PS2 on 42" Plasma and 18" TFT, RGB or S-Video?

Hello everybody,

Just a couple of days ago I (actually my dad ) bought a new 42" plasma display, which has lots of connections at the back.

Until now I ran my PS2 with a RGB cable (the one which goes from your PS2 directly to Scart, right?).

So last night I hooked it up at the Plasma and.......well.....it was a blast With my dad watching TV so much (well, most of the time anyway) it won't be able for me to have my ps2 and DFP there, so I'll use that only for special ocasions

I thought of getting a Capture card for my PC, so I can play it on my 18 '' TFT. I have to buy a S-Video cable anyway.

My question is: Should I get a 2nd S-Video cable for the Plasma or a Component cable that costs around 10 euros??

Your question is if S-Video or Component (YUV) is better than RGB, right? Well, if the plasma has a YUV input, you should get a YUV cable to use it with the plasma. People say YUV looks better than RGB, but I can't judge that cause I've never seen them in comparison. S-Video is no alternative, cause RGB and YUV both have better quality. So you should only get S-Video for your capture card.

Thanx a lot for the answer 👍 The question is now partly solved, may I ask someone who had both ( RGB and Component) if the difference is worth more than double the price of a S-Video cable ?

S-VHS gives quite a nice picture on my 19" tube...

No matter what you decide to get, I HIGHLY recommend using DScaler for viewing the signal.. It has some very nice de-interlacing features that you wouldn't want to be without !....
