PS2 problem...

I have a feeling that my PS2 will die :nervous:. This is what is happening: Whenever I turn on the PS2, these diagonal lines, alternating in red and blue colors appear on the TV screen. This affects all games I play. Also, at the same time, whenever I close the disc tray, (with no CD) it still shows "Reading disc..." for less than a second then it stops. It still plays games though. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? I still want to play GT4 :(.

The problem with the lines sounds like something in the connection between the PS2 and the TV. Or something wrong with your TV.

As for the "reading disc", it's supposed to do that. Do you really expect it to say "Checking to see if you really put a disc in"? Every disc player I've ever owned has said "Reading" when you close the tray, regardless of whether there's anything in it.

Offhand, I'd say there's nothing wrong with your PS2.

Thanks for the info :). I might as well check the cables.
Yeah, do so. It happens all the time with me. Pull it out, and stick it back in. No, not that... the PS2 video cable...

I had green lines go through my T.V. for the longest time but they fixed themselves after the T.V. shut itself off once. So I'd say its your cables or T.V.

My TV gets lines all the time, it's a poor connection between it and the VCR or the VCR and the satallite (direct tv is run through the vcr to the tv, I just move stuff around till the lines go away), so I'd say your problem is cables. Now if you have constant discolored parts (kind of looks like if it was a photograph the white balance is out of whack in some spots) then your TV is screwed.
