Hello all. I recently took out the PS2 from using this older Sony 27" CRT, and I hooked it up to my 52" LCoS projection (720p). I first used the regular composite cable that came with my PS2. Needless to say, picture looked like absolute crap  at 480i, and I was also getting some underscan. Since it's a widescreen TV, I was getting black bars on the sides cause I wasn't stretching it, but I was still getting small black bars around the picture (not filling it like it should). Component cables arrived yesterday, hooked them up. GT4 and Tourist Trophy look REALLY good at 1080i setting, very sharp, way way sharper than 480i. However, I still get underscan. When the game switches to "HDTV" mode and it uses the whole 16:9 area of the TV, I still have small black bars on the top, bottom and side (not big), but they're still there. Why is this? Is it a problem with the cables I got? A problem with PS2 output? I know it aint a problem with the TV because Xbox1 with component cables and Xbox360 and all that fill up the screen completely.

I have that problem when running GT4 in 1080i on my HDTV too, I think the problem comes from the game itself, not your cable, your ps2, or your TV, because this also happened when I run GT4 in 480p (other games are fine).

I will try tonight when I get home to hook up the PS2 to my other HDTV. I have a 36" CRT HDTV upstairs. It should probably look a bit better (I love my LCoS HDTV much much more, but the CRT one is a bit better for "crappier" sources like Xbox1 480p, PS2, so on). I know for a fact that the CRT has more overscan in its "HD" mode so maybe it will fill up the whole screen.
