When I plug my PS3 into this old tv I get audio but no video. I know it's not the tv because my brothers ps3 works on it. I know it's also not the cables because my cables work on his ps3 but his do not work on mine. We have tried everything we could think of and can only come to the answer of it being something inside the ps3. I'd prefer it I'd I could get an some help within the next few hours because it's not fun for long doing nothing at all in the deep sticks of Tennessee for a week.

EDIT: I'm assuming this is the right place to put this thread, so sorry if it is not. It would be greatly appreciated if a moderator would put it in the correct spot.

Thanks.

I'm guessing the problem is your PS3 is set for only 1080p, for example, and the TV can display it. While the PS3 is off, hold down the power button. It will beep like it does when it first starts up but keep holding it down until it beeps again. That will reset the video settings. You can then go in and change them in the XMB as required as I believe the stock setting is 480.

Your PS3 is set for a different video output than his, and different from what the TV uses. If your PS3 is set to HDMI 1080p, for excample, a standard-def TV set with composite video in cannot display that signal. You need to reset it to default so you can get to the menus and set the appropriate video.

When you turn it on, hold down the power button for 5 seconds. You should hear another beep after that time, and the video resets to lowest settings.

Tree'd. Dang.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. It was a little late, my mom is taking my ps3 back home to Indy, but I'm in Tennessee. She's nice enough to come back and give it to me, she left her ear rings anyways. Off topic, but anyways thanks!
