I am soon going to buy a ThrustMaster T80 RS and I want to know if it is easier to race against the AI and online players with a controller or the steering wheel. I know its based on your opinion but I'm curious.

If you're not concerned about the extra immersion and satisfaction that a wheel provides, a wheel will still give you more advantages than a controller. It will however probably take a bit longer to get your maximum performance out of it.

If you're willing to spend the money and have the space for it, you should definitely go for a wheel. This is coming from someone who has both but primarily plays on a controller due to my current living accomodation.
Don't worry about your performance if you do use a controller, you can still be almost as fast with it. Primarily it's in understeering cars where the wheel shines and the controller loses the most, this is due to some maximum steering angle limitations set in place for the controller by the game.

Avoid the T80. It will be a waste of money - it uses rubber bands to provide Resistance - it has no force feedback. Save for a T150 or Logitech G29 for Ps4 compatibility or get a secondhand dfgt for ps3.

Ffb is the info in the game which enables a ffb wheel to communicate the sensations of grip loss, under steer etc which makes it a realistic experience. Non ffb wheels just mimic a controller, are not realistic and normally slower.

It's definitely easier to race with a wheel. I have a very cheap one (which is unfortunately broken today, not a big surprise) And it made a very big difference. It was also much more fun.

Steering wheel everytime, using a pad makes it way to easy to catch slides and things that mess up your race. Which can be fun but you want it to be as realistic as possiblepossible.

T150 should do great! I recently upgraded from my DFGT to T300RS and I love both wheels.

As for is it easier, Well the AI aren't in any way "fast" so I found no issues on either (I used a controller for a 5ish years) but for online players it just depends on how fast you are, in a way it's easier with a wheel as you have more control but controller users can still be insanely fast no doubt.

Oh yeah and a wheel is a heap more fun! The experience is great!

Good advice about not buying the ThrustMaster T80 RS but instead saving a bit more for the T150 instead.
Rule #1: Never ever go for the lowest end device.
Plus I believe the T80 is only PS3 compatible and not for PS4. At least the T150 is compatible with both PS3 and PS4 plus of course it's a superior wheel in comparison.

As we speaking about steering wheels I myself was considering the Thrustmaster 150 however it's not available locally in my area. If I have to purchase I would have to purchase it abroad and have it shipped down.
I came across recently a competitor's brand...The Logitech G29 Driving Force Race Wheel (941-000110). List price: $399.99... Amazon price: $299.99. I know it's a bit more pricey that the Thrustmaster T150.
Was wondering what do y'all thing about it. Feedback would be appreciated. At least that one is available locally if I wished to purchase. Here is a link for more info.

It's a good wheel. The G29 is effectively an updated G27 which itself was an updated G25 both long running designs from Logitech. There shouldn't be much difference in performance between a T150 and a G29 - both will be good for racing games on PS4 and are also compatible with PC.

There are wheel reviews on Inside Sim Racing.

Ahhh, that figures then. Sonovagun.
Only thing is it's so damn expensive man. Considerably more than the Thrustmaster T150 eh? More than double the price.
Been considering again, comparing back and forth up to just now between the two. Although the Logitech G29 from all that I've gathered is superior (the price is a good indicator also) I feel I might end up going with the Thrustmaster T150 as it would be more economical and it still is a decent wheel nonetheless.
In addition when I do decide to buy I would want to also purchase the Deluxe Steering Wheel Stand for it so I have to factor that in the equation.

If I could not buy a G29, I would have brought a T150, but it depends on how much money you want to spend.

That seems a very high price for a G29 - Amazon UK has them for £180 with the T150 at £127. Both are entry level wheels with similar performance. If you have more money to spend go for a T300 - a much better wheel than the G29, but more money.

T80 is recognised as a control pad. I have one myself and to be honest, It's Rubbish.... I also have a driving force GT which is really good, quick response, motorised, etc... I would recommend a motorised wheel any day :-)
