After a quick session at Abu Dhabi on the New F1 2012 demo it has become quite apparent to me that I need a new controller. It seems that everytime my controller vibrates it activates every button on the right of my controller. So everytime I hit the apex I open the DRS, change my view, change gear and ultimately spin out. Not fun. Anyway I was wondering where is the best place to buy a PS3 controller from and I thought :gtpflag: would know!

So I am from the middle of England.
I have about 45 pounds to spend. I know you can get a brand new one from about anywhere for that but I want to spend as little as possible.
I get paid Sunday so I can have a look around.

Thanks for the help. :gtplanet:

Hey m8,

do you mind if I`d ask for same offers available for Germany in Euro?

If so, I`ll delete this post.

Cheers 👍

Cheapest price for an original packed new one: 35,00 Euro incl. shipping

m8h3r, DO NOT do it!

This happened to me, too. The controller's working fine. It's after the long straight at Abu-Dhabi, right? And, it's just one straightaway, where it vibrates, right?

Everywhere on the track when it vibrates. Sometimes it does it on F1 2011 and other games too. Seems it's a woman now because it'll do it sometimes, then others it wont. It is quite funny watching it cycle through cameras quicker than humanly possible though. :dopey:

Sorry, I was really scared that you were about to give up 20 pounds for a new controller you mightn't need. I wanted to grab your attention with the big red capitals, and make sure. I'm a fan of James May, why wouldn't I help out another? :sly:

Nice to know you care enough about Mr. May to comment anyway :P

Might want to open it, easy enough with a screw driver, it might be just dirty contacts on the plastic sensor inside or the rubber pad.

No, not this time. I did that with my last one and parts went everywhere.

Then the L2 button decided it wouldn't press in anymore. Improved my lap times! :dunce:

Wow. That's much cheaper than I was expecting. How long do you think it'll take to get here from China?

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly guys 👍

It's cheaper because it'll be a fake, like most things that come from China.;)

Granted  but does it feel the same as the normal ones and will it connect properly. I've sent somone out to get an official one before and had them come back saying "Oh look, its only £10 why not have this one" Get home and it need batterys and needs to have a USB plugged in.

Another alternative is to get a USB converter and use the old DS2 stick, cheaper, and it works with most racing games, GT5 works great with it.

Do you use L2/R2 trigger often ? It works as I used is for playing all of my PS3 games, not sure if the rear L2/R2 are pressure sensitive like DS3. I used face buttons for racing games ( gas/brake ), they worked a lot better than DS3. Here is a link for Amazon :

If you have an old DS2 stick gathering dust, this cheap alternative is not bad, you can use the converter for PC as well.

On my USB converter, the DS2 Analog button has the same function as DS3's PS button, pressing L1 + R3 will open XMB when playing a game. Mine has a switch for PC or PS3. I bought it from a local computer shop.

I think I'll stick to the DS3, I do use the L2/R2 buttons for Accelerate and Brake. Also I never used to like the idea of wires. I always seemed to pull them out by accident.

Okay, I'm in game testing the DS2 L2/R2 trigger for gas and brake, boy they worked so much better than my DS3, shorter travel, yes, but the amount of pressure needed to full brake/gas is quite deep and very manageable to apply 25% - 50% - 75% - 100% input. In fact I have to press deeper and deeper to use them. Just want to let you know.

I find as DS3s age and get... Creaky and a bit flexible, the membrane slides around on the contact pads and it goes crazy. Mine has started doing it, if you hold the controller and twist it like you're wringing a cloth it'll go completely crazy. Not much can be done at that point because it's fatigue of the plastic that does it, but you could open it up and see if you need to reseat the membrane or something.

Yea this is exactly what mine is like. Had the controller for about a year and half and it's had a good few miles on it. It seems vibrating give it that effect.
