PS3 EVENT: Leftyz Fun Run Offline Qualifier & Online RallyCross

This will be a true RallyCross competition in the flavor of where the “Cross” comes from with a sprinkle of the division format. In this competition there is Qualifying using the TT, Division assignment by your Quali time on the world board or your submitted time, discussion as to which time and date for the start time of the online competition will come up at some point so consideration will be given via a vote.

Once a time and date has been established the event will take place online. I’m thinking that each event will take about 2 weeks, one for setting your Quali Time and another to work out any logistics that might have to do w/ fine tuning the event.

I have been looking everywhere to find any of the track layouts and I am not having any luck so I am going to reverse engineer the layouts from the turn map on the screen so we can have turn numbers. It will take a couple of weeks to get the first event going so please step up and give it a try. The more the merrier.

If any mod’s feel like they just have to move this event to an online competition area of the forum please don’t because this event has as much to do w/ offline as it does online.

I'm down for some rally competition...it seems like Stig's comp died out (and on the last rally too). If anyone caught X games this weekend, you gotta be pumped after all that rallycross.

Yah this game is so cool and I can't understand why it doesn't have more GTPerz rockin it. I don't know exactly when It will start but maybe in a week so I can jaz up the front page w/ some graphics and work the details over on how the tote board will look.

It's not a hassle at all because I will pull your times from the friends part of the TT board, you don't have to do a thing. If you have already ran the track then you have established a time and I can see it after each competitor has friended me.

I still have to wake up my Leftywight69 account from PSN's melt down, I want to keep my current GTP_ login for WRS activity. I haven't gone there in a while because of all the hassle. I don't even know if my online Dirt net account will work for other logins from the same console but if it doesn't I'll go ahead and use my current login.

I haven't figured out which track I'm going to use just yet for the first one but the details for the compo will be up in maybe a week. For the actual competition yes it is online.

Note the title of the thread.... It's not intended to be taken serious. It's just a way to take the TT deal and give it a purpose, when I put on my events for the F1 2010 Fun Runs there were more people competing so I used it to more accurately group the competitors so the races were close and the Aliens would beat each other senselessly. The winner of the slower division would get to enter the next faster event and try to chase down the big dogs.

I like to have manageable grids so I would run 8 on a grid and there were like 12 + or so in each event so I would make to classes of one slower 6 and one fast 6. If someone wanted to keep going and take on the Aliens then there was room and they would just jump into the lobby that was waiting for the race before it to finish.

It more reflects the way dirt track racing is done using the division structure. First and second from D3 move on to D2, the winners of D2 move on to D1 in the main event. You can take this kind of program serious or not but it is intended to let the cream rise to the top.

I'm sure you and myself would be waiting for the lesser divisions to meet us in the main

I see two problems with this:

1) We're all split across different consoles. I can't race people on the PS3 because I'm on the PC; likewise, PS3 players can't race me.

2) There is no way to control the grid based on lap times. You can sort the grid based on previous race results and fanbase tiers, but you have no direct control over it.

I knew it wouldn't be easy and I wasn't sure about setting the grid. That was how it was in F1 also for the grid. Well now I'm bumbed that you can't show up, I guess I just assumed that everyone was PS3

I'll have to change the title to reflect the PS3 aspect of it. I haven't put a race on since just before GT5 came out so I'm a little rusty at this. I just hope that I can find enough people to fill a grid but nothing ventured they say.

@Interludes 2nd point: Lefty hosted a few of these in F1 2010 where you just set the time for your division placement and the ranking didn't really matter otherwise, we would then have the qualifying in the room.

Technically you could be first in the time trial but start In 7th or 8th.

With no qualifying on dirt 3 however it would be completely random.

Also, first place on the TT would get first choice of car, 2nd choice etc.

Thanks Ak It may take a little longer to get this off the ground because Little is going to finally race his new Go-Kart on the 21st and we have been out to the track every day lately making sure that everything is set up and ready. We got the kart rocking today and now it's all about seat time and tons of laps.

After this next week were going to take a break for a couple of days and I'll try to reverse enginere the track so the OP looks good and the details will go up.
