Ok, some new info on the games of PS3.

Killzone PS3-
This sequel to Sony's intense Sci-fi FPS looked good enough to be a CG movie, leading many to believe that it was actually pre-rendered --- possibly the intro to the real game. In reality, the footage came from the game engine running on a PS3 alpha kit but was sped up from only about 5 frames per second to 60fps for the demo.

Vision Gran Turismo-
This looked like a very high-res version of GT4, which, when we spoke with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, we found out it pretty much was. Awesome-looking real time pit crews and bystanders had been added, however. Yamauchi wanted to make it very clear that this is a tech demo, not GT5.

I-8 (Working Title)-
We thought this was going to be another WWII shooter...until the soldiers were ambushed by giant mutants/aliens. The video was from an actual dev kit. The game's being made by Insomniac (Ratchet & Clank) and is their eighth title, hence the codename "I-8."

Warhawk-
The classic Playstation flight action game is finally making a comeback from Twisted Metal Black developer Incognito. The trailer boasted an amazing number of aircraft on-screen, and hinted at some on-foot action, too.

Devil May Cry 4-
Dante was shown in the snow outside an ominous castle in this extremely brief clip. We asked the producer of the game if it would take place before or after DMC1, but he sadly, yet politely declined the comment.

Killing Day-
Ubisoft's original FPS showed off the RSX chip's unique approach to realistic lighting and awesome texture resolution. Being able to destory the enviroment to take out enemies was also a highlight.

MotorStorm-
Evolution Studios, the developer of the WRC rally game series is working on this arcade-style off-road racer that features dune buggies, dirt bikes, rally cars, ATVs, trucks - pretty much anything that can be raced off-road. The physics and realistic mud looked incredible.

Heavenly Sword-
Ninja Theory- now that's a cool developer name. Anyway, they're working on this original third-person action game that looks like part Devil May Cry, part Dynasty Warriors with a fighting amongst massive crowds of enemies.

Gundam-
Bandai's giant robots were modeled down to the last rivet in this trailer, which showed a game that looks a lot less cartoon-like than previous installments in the series thanks to some great lighting effects.

Eyedentify-
We got a look at this possible HD EyeToy title in which you could see a gamer interacting Lifeline-style with two in-game female agents by means of the camera and a voice recognition headset.

Ni-oH-
KOEI's first PS3 game looked an awful lot like the CG from the Kessen games, only in real time.

Fifth Phantom Saga-
Sonic Team is behind this very early looking FPS with a sci-fi art style...F)ifth P)hantom S)aga. Clever.

Fight Night Round 3-
EA came out swinging with a real time, playable demo featuring the most realistic looking human characters ever seen in a game.

The Getaway-
Billed as a tech demo, this showed just how close Team Soho could make a PS3 Getaway's London look like the real thing.

Formula 1-
Photorealistic F1 racing from Sony's European development studio.
(Nothing much else was released about it)

That's it.
Some old news, some new news (?).
Enjoy.

All info credited to PSM. :)

Great Info :)

........and thanks for not starting a thread that says this or that console is better!

👎

Thats actually misleading, the KZ demo was prerendered, it wasn't done from a real time game engine, it was done as a movie and rendered as a movie. It would be possible to run that demo much faster running from a proper game engine on PS3 hardware.

Explain. 'Cause I'm not sure I follow you. They say right in the article that it's running on a dev kit, using the game engine, and that it's not CGI. Then you come back and say that it is. Did I miss a memo?

Regardless of that bit of info a Sony spokesman said that it was a prerendered video but that it was to the PS3's spec. I think that article is missleading, it's not wrong that it was made on a PS3 dev kit, but it wasn't real time either, it was pre-rendered, but because it was to spec it can be done real time according to the Sony spokesman who;s comments you can read for you'reself in a couple of gaming magazines including EDGE.

No, I'm saying it was pre-rendered on a PS3 dev kit, the article comes across as though it's not "This sequel to Sony's intense Sci-fi FPS looked good enough to be a CG movie, leading many to believe that it was actually pre-rendered --- possibly the intro to the real game. Read the bit I highlited in bold, thats why it's misleading. Also how would the magazine know it was sped up from 5 FPS, even if it was running at 5FPS and sped up, correct me if I'm wrong, but thats not uncommon when scripting a move, everything running slower allows you to spot corrections and time things better. The article makes it sound like the PS3 can't run that exept at 5FPS.

To clarify info in reference to the Killzone 5fps issue.

It was running on a dev kit, with a cell running at roughly 2.4Ghz.

Then factor in that it was running on two 7800's running SLI, on PCI Express slots. Vastly slower than the RSX-Cell bandiwdth.

Just those two factors alone are enough to slow it down to 5fps, not to mention the architecture is amazingly different on the current dev kits and the actual hardware. I'm sure when the final dev kit comes out these problems won't exsist, but I wouldn't be surprised if other games did the same thing, but it hasn't been stated yet.

Huh? Damn I'm bad with video card/console hardware lingo.... does running the clip 5fps slower make the quality better?? Actually better yet can someone link me to a site with definitions and stuff so i know what you guys are talking about?

fps = frames per second.

the more, the better.

beside killzone 2 and vision GT, Winning Eleven (WE) 10 international is one game that i am really excited about (although WE9 international on PS2 hasn't come out yet), consider the PS3's power, We10 International will sure look amazing.

Do you think when they release the ps3 that it will have glitches so they will make a newer model like they did with the ps2? And then all the people who bought it right away will get screwed out of there minds.

Possibly, it's pretty heavy technology in the PS3 and they'll be trying to hit deadlines ect. Theres as much chance of the XB360 having bugs though.

I hate that. So here's my plan, I think i'll wait a year or two that way sony can work out the bugs and the price will be lower meanwhile i will continue buying ps2 games. And hopefully the ps3 will make ps2 games look better so those games won't go to waste! It's fool proof!

There might not be any, the bottom line is no on eknows until it's out and tested.

Yeah, I waited in line 9 hours for my PS2; cost me 300 bucks. I sold it for 550. :)
Bugs or not, Im going to get one! Theres noway I couldnt. If theres a good game out there, I must have it! I'm excited about the next gen.

As for the game running @ 5fps and "still impressive" is total opinon(bs). I think it sucks. Nice way to cheat, no one knows how well the ''real'' hardware will run it. Probably not much better.

wtf are you smoking?

And extre 25% processing power, plus an additional 20GB/s bandwidth are just two of the SMALL benifits that the PS3 will have over dev kits. Don't forget the superior GPU architecture on ONE chip so that data isn't split between TWO GPU's slowing it down even more.

You don't even understand hardware enough to even JUSTIFY what you are saying. The final hardware should be able to run this around 30fps EASY and probably north of that, but the dev kits are extremely limited as far as being able to process smoke and particle effects, seen as abundant in this demo as they were.

What the company's are putting down on paper isn't going to ultimately make the system better when you play it. You never know maybe some how revolution will end up being funner then ps3. It's too soon to tell.

We will see con. You are just guessing like everyone else.

How is it guessing? Final specs will be stronger than development kits, that is fact, there is NO guess work involved.

Knowing that an increase in power will yield better results is COMMON SENSE.

Think what you will, but the facts are there, everyone being skeptical because they know no better, well that's just ignorance, according to the definition of the word.

It's very easy to understand, but none of you wish to accept what you see, or UNDERSTAND what you see, and then when I drop a dime on your simple ass arguements, you just way "whatever" or give me some lame rebuttal. At least prove me wrong with some hard evidence, as I can back up nearly all of my posts.

You still dont know.
And it will be better, I didnt say it wouldnt. I am saying proably wont be enough to make it locked at 30+fps. Ive seen extremely good hardware in the past fail miserably while having the "Specs" to perform. Keep on guessing con. I'm going to wait.
