Ps3/gt5/di 624 problem???

Hey guys!

I've never really been into computers and electronics and setting things up in terms of networking but lately I've been having a lot of problems.

Whenever I try to access an open lobby I get various error messages such as "The network is offline" or "You have been disconnected from the access point". I haven't been able to play online in weeks.

Now, I originally thought that if I just cleared the system cache, power cycled the router and modem and reboot PS3 everything would be fine and dandy. How foolish of me to think that would be the case. I'm still getting the same messages. I searched google and it turns out my DI-624 has a gaming mode! So I want to try accessing my router page and enable it. Well I'm **** out of luck because it wants a username and password. So I type in admin/admin for username/password and the popup just resets itself. It seems like I cant even setup the router anymore!

Now there is a catch to this. A couple of weeks ago, some vandals cut off a whole sector of my town from internet/cable tv by trying to steal a section of fibre optic cable. I didn't know about this on the first morning so I thought it was a problem with my computer. I hard reset the router and of course, no dice. Anyways, my cable tv and internet eventually got restored once the section of fibre optic was replaced. To my surprise my network still had its name and security so I thought everything would be fine. I think the hard reset might have something to do with my poor connectivity to the game.

Unfortunately I am forced to play wireless because I don't have a wired connection right now. I know it sucks but if someone could please help me out and get me started again I would be very thankful.

The gaming mode on your router won't help with getting you online as it's just a mode where it allows higher packet sendage rate (or something like that) which is good in a way.

Also, is this just a problem on GT5? or on PSN itself?
Have you done a network test on your PS3? (located in network settings)

Just with GT5 and I have done several network tests. My wireless is consistently 90% or higher.

I talked it over with a friend who's a computer tech and gave him a beer to fix it. Now everything works fine!!!
