Just turned on my PS3 for the first time in a while, and at first, all was well. Tried PlayStation Home to have a look at the new Wipeout thing they have on there, and then the connection died.

After that, I can't get back in. It was coming up with a DNS error 80710102 every time I tried to log in.

Gave up, went to network settings to have a faff and see if it just needed resetting. It can't find any cable in the ethernet port :odd:

Fair enough, thought I, so I tried for a wireless connection. And it can't find any signal from my router (error 8001000A). Given that I'm managing to post this on the net you can see I have no trouble getting a connection on my laptop, and neither does my flatmate. The router seems to be absolutely fine, and given that the ethernet cable has never moved from the back of the router or PS3, I can't see how it would have magically failed either. And yes, internet connection is enabled.

Any clues? Anyone else having a similar problem?

Have you tried the file rebuild thing?

Switch on and hold button till It switchs off switch on and keep button pressed till you hear 1 beep then 2 beeps a menu will apear press option 3.
May not work but worth a try.

Definitely the last thing someone should try.
Like Eric. said, unplug the router (not from the PS3, from the power outlet), wait 10 seconds or so and plug it in again.
