Ps3 problems.

I tried to ask this question on the Sony forums but for some reason I can't post a thread up on that site.

A little while ago I was doing the 4 hr Nurburgring race and at about 1.5 hrs into it, I switched the channel back to the race and the screen was blank. The system wasn't running hot and the green and blue lights were normal. I restarted the system a few times, switched hdmi ports, unplugged the power cable and put it back in, etc. So far nothing is working. I pressed the power button down for a few seconds and the light flashes but still nothing onscreen. Am I screwed here? This is a second hand system from a friend that is at least three years old, maybe older. Please help. Thanks.

edit: It might be the hdmi port in either my tv or the ps3 because I switched to component video and it works that way. idk

If it worked on component, then that's what your PS3 is set for. I don't think it will do component and HDMI, will it?

(Guessing, because my old TV is component only, no HDMI ports. Not even DVI, it's so old!)

I sometimes have this problem with mine. I unplug and plug the HDMI in the ps3 and it comes back on screen.

Well after a whole week of using component cable for the ps3, I tried again to switch back to hdmi and it worked. No idea why it stopped showing the picture in the first place. If this happens again I'll do what you said DxGxAxFNick and see if that works.
