I'm in the market of getting an Wireless N adapter for my Dual-Band Router I was wondering would I be able to use that with my PS3 cause I can see I would use it on my PS3 more than I would with my PC.

P.S. cause wired connection is not an option cause I live up in a finished Attic and my router is on the first floor

Aww :( well thank you very much for the info. If you are anyone else know what else I can to to get the most out of my 30MB internet please let me know cause the only other option I know is to use the black PS3 ethernet cable that came with my PS3 for reference I get 10MB/3MB but my connection is 30MB

What model of PS3 are you using? Because they do have a wifi modem built into the thing since the 40 GB model. Now granted, it is a 802.11 b/g receiver, but it shouldn't matter to the modem itself because it can broadcast in those ranges.

The letter in a modem just simply tells you the range from your modem that you have a solid wifi connection, and it goes from b, g, n. When a wifi signal is sent out, and depending on your connection point, you will hit interior, exterior walls, windows, doors, and, if you are extremely unlucky, aluminum siding that is around your house. 802.11 g, considered the standard of the signals, and has a range of 100 ft.

I have the CECH-2501A model of PS3. I don't know too much info on my charter modem all I know is I get 30MB from charter but my Router is a 270MB dual-band but I got it on the 2.4 band cause I can never reach 270MB unless I use my N computer and put it on 5Ghz. And my router is pretty close to the window I'm kinda of afraid that could be the reason so I put it up on top of a 6 foot bookshelf still close to the window but it closer to the cieling to my room upstairs. I did see 270MB on 2.4Ghz but I'm not to sure on the different on that either cause that on another band.

Conclusion: I think I'm confused on what the best wireless speed I should set it to. I'm currently on 2.4Ghz/54Mbps cause I don't wanna screw nothing up trying to get maximum speed without disconnection, slowdown and lag when I play online.

P.S. that why I though a ethernet or wifi adapter would put an end to all of that but I'm not buying it until I know for sure that why I'm using the knowledge of the people on GT Planet and the internet as a whole to help me out

Sorry for the long posts I know it probably hard to follow thru my posts I'm just trying to be as precise as I can to tell ya'll how my setup is and what are my problem so I can find the solution to it

This brings me to my second question. What kind of games do you play online? I generally play fighters online, and there are times regardless of what I do where there is slowdown on my game and cause either myself or the other player to drop the connection. Those problems are usually caused by the netcode of the game, not your upload or download speed.

The point that I am trying to make is that if you are playing a timing critical game like Street Fighter, then you are going to drop combos online regardless of how good your online is.

I'm really thinking of that but I need more info and help on is that the way to go and what are the advantages of homeplugs. I don't wanna get just a small boost.

I play mostly racing games and sports game like Madden NFL but I get more problems with racing games like: I play Gran Turismo 5 online I get black screen, drop from online room, the tracks take so long to load especially the custom ones. If I manage to enter a race I see car disappearing and reappearing like flashing past me, or two wheel driving and cars jumping on turns to keep from spinning out or crashing just a lot of weird stuff and I blame that on my connection so I though I need to fix my PS3 or something cause these things I'm seeing is weird and it had to be only me that seeing all of this so I thought it was on my side

If I were you then, I would call both Sony and Charter on tech support. If you updated your PS3 like a good boy, then I don't think that you should be even having those problems with your system.

I'll be blunt with you and say that downloading even the optional updates do correct some online issues.

I talked to Charter Tech seems like speedtest and charter speed test was both wrong they said I only have 15MBPS so that explain why the PS3 stays on 10 MB wireless and 13 MBPS wired the speed test alway give me 10MBPS extra to my connection
