Well, they certainly have a lot of them this time around. And while watching E3 I noticed that all the third party developers were rallying behind Sony. Which was different from 2 years ago when everyone was abandoning Sony's ship. But, EA, Codemasters, Konami and others were very eager to announce PS3 exclusive content and EA even had all their games on the PS3 during the stage demos. It seemed that Nintendo and Microsoft promoted mainly their own stuff. (Nintendo is going to get some awesome third-party titles though.) I don't know. It seems like in two years the mindset has gone from "We need to expand our horizons and go multi-platform" to "let's take another look at Sony and the PS3"

EA is partnering up with SONY because activision got in bed with MICROSOFT first, with their COD exclusive deals. There's probably nothing more to it.

I have noticed this trend, there are quite a few new first party IP's in the pipeline and quite a few more 3rd party timed exclusives or special deals this year for PS3.

Dead Space 2 is offering Extraction on the disk exclusive to PS3 and Medal of Honor is getting a PS3 limited edition with Frontline included. Even Valve has caved and Portal 2 with special features is coming over. Then theres the Move and all its support.

I think the general consensus is that the Wii is in decline and the 360 has somewhat peaked so the PS3 has room to expand, the Blu Ray capacity certainly helps things.

Its nice to see so many multi platform tites leading with PS3 development and then porting to 360 rather than the other way round in the beginning. Some of the early ports on PS3 were terrible.

Robin.

I wish they all would. What will future consoles mean to us? the development times are ridiculous as things stand right now and are increasing with every iteration, so what will we get? Games with astonishing graphics (no complaints) every 2-3 years, but extremely short.

I would love to see the next generation not too far above the current gen (I'm talking PS3 standards) and I'd prefer more power to multi-task than graphic power.

Back on topic, I would say that this is happening because developers have had a chance to get used and be more knowledgeable about PS3 dev'ing. Initially it was all "Oh, it's too hard", etc. but now with all the recent titles we've been seeing, I'm guessing devs want to jump in, not to mention the fluke that the 360 was in Japan, so to reach that market you either have to go Ninntendo or SONY.

Title should be "exclusive deals". They have proved strong exclusive titles since 08... but I was surprised at the amount of exclusive deals Sony has going, they usually don't do many. They finally come down to earth realizing they cant sell stuff on brand recognition alone anymore.

Yeah. I think everyone was a little surprised at all of the exclusive PS3 exclusive content and deals announced at E3. I think it has a lot do with the fact that devs are used to making games for it by now. But I think there is also a bit of brand loyalty in there. I mean, if you got back to the PS2, you see a lot of these same companies leaning towards Sony. Including EA, which released a better looking Hot Pursuit 2 on the Ps2 about 2 or 3 weeks before PC or Xbox got it. True, it was missing a couple cop cars, but it looks a lot better.

I think, though there are a lot of factors that make PS3 look more appealing. Space being the biggest one. That and the fact that Microsoft has lost 2 of it's biggest exclusive companies recently. (Bizarre Creations and Bungie) Both of them HAVE or WILL release games on PS3, now. Sony did loose a few exclusive companies like Rockstar and Konami, but for every company that they've lost, there are at least two more companies that remain loyal like Naughty Dog, Ico, and Polphony Digital (PD might be owned by Sony and Kaz is VP of Sony, but they do have enough gout to become a third party if they so chose.) Even some of the companies that have left have made comments that they really don't like the Xbox. EA, Rockstar, Lucas Arts, and Konami have all mentioned that they prefer Sony over Xbox or Nintendo. So far, I would think that ll of the reasons mentioned are accurate: brand loyalty, MS and Wii declining, lack of room on the 360, and the PS3 is just simply more powerful with a lot more room.

About time I say. At last publishers and devs are finally beginning to see what the PS3 is all about. It has so much untapped power and potential that no one has really discovered yet. I think, and hope, that PD and GT5 will be the first in a new wave of games that will finally show those PS3-bashers how wrong they were. The Xbox 360 has no more to offer. With the capacity of Blu-ray and the hidden power of PS3, games will start to come now with the quality that could possibly make the 360 and Wii look like last gen systems.
