hey guys, my PS3(slim 250GB) froze a few nights back and when I rebooted it, I got a message saying the the hard disks database will be rebuilt and then it sent a message to Sony. I'm hoping this is nothing too serious, anyone else ever come across this issue and what lies ahead for my PS3, oh and not that it matters I think but GT5 was loading when this happened.. Thanks ahead guys...

It's nothing serious. You just turned the PS3 off improperly though I would look into the freezing problems.

There is a good chance that the PS3 is overheating from years of use. I'd look into the dissemble tutorials and clean the dust and replace the thermal paste.

Have all my game data saved on PSN+, if the drive goes, is it just a simple case of replace the drive and reinstall the games, updates and my saved game files from the PSN servers? Thanks for the help lads...

I get a similar message saying
The hard disk's file system is corrupted and will be restored
Is this bad?

Not necessarily bad. As long as the restoration process goes ok you're fine. Just think of your PS3 as if it's running programs like chkdsk, fixmbr, and spinrite [third party program]. It's just fixing the file system so your data can be read correctly.
