PS3 slims and a bunch of other ?'s

I just bought my very first PS3 (160gb slim) 4 days before the super slim was released. I don't like the super slim so I skipped out on it.

On the bottom of my PS3 it says it was manufactured in May 2012. I understand that slims came out in 2009 right? The first ones had piano finished sides and a white Sony logo. I like those better than my all matte finished slim.

So I assume the insides are slightly different? Like a Jasper or Falcon chipped Xbox 360?

Also I would like to know what month was the last of the slims made?

After going through 2 360's I want to be more alert, cautious, and wiser. I still have and use my Jasper 360 regularly since 09. By the way, I really appreciate what the PS3 has to offer! Much much more ways than what the 360 has to offer. Thanks for any help guys!
 
The PS3 Slim was redesigned slightly in... I think June of 2011. They dropped the power usage somewhat, removed a couple of the LEDs, and modified the cooling system to run more efficiently/quieter.


As far as the new, cheaper model is concerned, I'm guessing that Sony might actually still be making the Slim and have just started ramping up production of the Super Slim, but the changeover will probably be soon.
 
Thanks! Weird thing is I could not find ANY info about the difference in slim versions.

I see, so they are probably still phasing them out. I was hoping that I had one of the last batch of slims =P
