Why would I want an xbox?
My ps3 froze while playing KZ3, and now when I try to turn it on it will turn itself off with a flashing red light after about 10-20 secs of being on normally. I am incredibly annoyed because I reached level 40 A spec last week on gt5, as well as doing the 24hr leman a couple of weeks ago. Does anyone know if this is just an overheat thing that will go away of whether I will need a new ps3? I really don't want to have to replace it, this is my 4th Ps3, my first having a laser fault and the 2nd and 3rd both getting ylod. I have another ps3 at my dads but its another fat one and I dont want to get a ylod again (I'm the sort of person who plays 5-10hrs+ per day).. you know all this + psn outrage may just send me over to a pc what with bf3 on the way.

No back ups for quite a long time :( Iv got like 30-40 games as well all with fairly completed saves, some that iv had to redo every time I get a new ps3 - burnout paradise comes to mind, 50-100hrs+ to complete, Iv just got to end of it for the fourth time as well

After 4 PS3s, I think maybe you should look at what you're doing wrong. Vacuum your room once in a while pull some of the dust out of the room, put the ps3 in a well ventilated area, it sounds like it isn't in one. Do something.

The room is well ventilated, i have the window open most of the time and its cleaned frequently, but theyv all broken in different places, the first 2 broke at my mums and the 3rd at my dads, this one at my place at uni, theyv all been in good environments for it, theyv had plenty of space behind em/ around the fans etc

If you should get a new PS3, can't you replace the hard drive of the new PS3 with the hard drive of the broken PS3 with all the games on?

I doubt it since the HD gets formatted upon installation in the PS3. I installed a 500GB HD into my 120GB slim and a format is part of the procedure. You could use Data Transfer Utility, but the broken PS3 would need to work to do that.

Sounds like your folks are sobotaging them, based on you playing 5-10 hours per day :p
