Bought the original 60MB PS3 (backwards compatible with PS1 & PS2 games etc). :)

After many years gaming, the disc drive packed up so sent it off to the "Console Repair Man". £115 later they sent it back "fixed" but nothing worked & I now had the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD). :grumpy:👎

Sent it back, they tried & failed to fix it, so got a refund of £85 quid. :indiff:

(So basically I paid them around £30 to (allegedly) replace my Fan, re-solder dried out joints & generally vacuum / dust off the inside of my PS3.) :ill:

I now have a useless PS3 shaped thing which I can only use as a paperweight or doorstop. :ill:

Bought myself a new Slim 320GB model & am filling it up with all my GT5 gamesaves & replay info etc... :) LOL (But I cannot play PS1/PS2 stuff on it.) :grumpy:

But my question is how can I "copy" any of the stuff from my old Machines hard drive, if it doesn't actually work ?

Any help much appreciated, as some of those Game saves took a lot of time & effort. 👍

Youtube: PS3 YLOD Fix and then once done, use an ethernet cable to transfer data. (A heat gun and thermal paste is needed) Works if done correctly.

Many Thanks for your info SZRT Ice, I'll try & give it a go. 👍

As I no longer trust those Companies that "Promise" to Service & Repair your PS3 cheaply. :grumpy:

That's why I've pd £50 for a 5 year extended Warranty on my new slim 320GB. But believe you can swap the hard drive on the new ones. 👍 Good 💡

(I also hide the Controllers so that the darned kids can't use it to play their Blu-Rays !!!) :)
