Hey guys, had a frustrating time with my PS4 recently.
First, some background; my console has had a hell of a life. It's an early model, it was a Destiny release bundle. I once dropped it hard - so hard I thought it would brick, and this broke the Bluetooth receiver, and definitely broke part of the fan, causing it to be LOUD. This I can deal with and it's been this way over a year now and while it's LOUD as hell, it boots up, runs, and does everything it's meant to do just fine.
However, I've recently had problems with Monster Hunter: World causing the PS4 to overheat and give the red light bar. It will shut itself down if I don't do it myself, which obviously I do to try and avoid heat damage.
The thing is, it still runs everything else just fine; GT Sport, Wreckfest, Dark Souls 3, Doom Eternal, I've been playing all these games recently and haven't had one overheat.
It makes sense that MHW is a demanding game, but so are some of the other games I'm playing, and I ran GTS for hours today without so much as a blip.
I've already performed a cache clearance and a database restore, but MHW again overheated the console before I could even get into a hunt.
So I suppose the question is this; could this be a software issue with MHW that I might be able to solve with a re-install? Or is it likely that MHW is simply too demanding for my battered old console, even though it will run other games?
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts.
