PSN Downtime during Gamescon tomorrow...

Its probably just the new PSN service they're gonna announce.

Why do you think this would happen, and being as there is record of Kaz saying that GT5 and GT5Mobile will operate together in a very unique way, do you think it could be GT5 related?

I can't think of anything Sony is supposed to be offering that would require PSN to shut down during a show...

Well shortly after the presentation there is going to be a video of it possibly on home, also maybe they are releasing the next Firmware tommorow?
 
It has to be some form of update. I mean it's too convenient for PSN to go down during the Gamecom presentation. Perhaps they'll reveal something big for firmware.
 
Why is it that anytime something happens we think it's GT5 related?

There are tons of other reasons you know, I doubt PSN will get some huge redo just for GT5.
 
PD did their maintenance just yesterday, now it's Sonys turn it seems. Maybe they're ramping up for something or maybe..... it's nothing.
 
Look at it this way, with GT5P, we were told (what seems like) a week in advance that the online was going down. This is coming all of a sudden and definit-ly is weird. 💡
 
I say just wait, it's pointless speculating, all your gonna do is hype yourself up for something that might not have anything to do with GT, then you'll be pissed when it doesn't.

The event will last 3 hours. From 5 to 7 people will be seated and the speech is from 7 to 8.
 
That doesn't make sense because I was under the impression they were gonna show MAG live with some of the new beta testers
 
There is a chance that the European Video store may be announced tomorrow and go live, there also rumours of firmware 3.0.

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with GT.

Also, the rumored ps3 slim will probably be unveiled.

Because we're clawing at air, I'd say there's no other reason but that. There's pretty much no room for rationality anymore, I want some solid info right about now and not a video, or a list with supposed features, or a screenshot of what each individual pixel looks like when it isn't filtered, etc.

It's been said to death, but, what else is there to say at this point - I want a release date.

But we will find out soon enough whether we are getting some GT5 news this show...
I can't wait to get up in the morning and check GTPlanet. Heres a question for the people who live in a different timezone to Germany, are you staying up? I'm in Australia, and it is 2am here when the conference is happening - I'll just check in the morning me thinks.

Perhaps they're taking PSN down to avoid contention for the beta testers?

And also to give them a decent base line of how much bandwidth a game can take?

I've heard a rumour that Sony are going to do a presentation on new things for PS home. Its not impossible.
 
I know my comments about PD, Sony are always skeptical, but I still feel that the PSN downtime will change nothing and be labelled as something to do with improving playback in some mystical way. I seriously doubt a major change or a "FW 3.00", but then again, I do enjoy the odd surprise now and again.

I don't think its unreasonable to expect new firmware with the expectation of a new PS3 slim. Think about Apple's success with the Iphone, every new iphone brings with it a new major version of the firmware, Sony would want the slim PS3 to have killer new features from the go, they of course should make most of these features available to older PS3's of course.


Also, newer firmware / hardware combinations add more problems for the mod community, looking to play 'backups' of games.
 
They gonna upload GT5 so we can all download it tomorrow when PSN is back up.

Nah, whisfull thinking. They will probably announce and launch the video service tonight. And maybe add PSN prepaid card option to the European PS store. And maybe they add the improved emulation feuture so all PS3's can play PS2 games (would be a nice addition to a posible PS3 Slim model).
