ok minds of GTPlanet, I need your help....

I have been trying to use the internet browser in my PSP since I have purchased a wireless router a few months ago. I cannot for the life of me get it to work. My router is set up using WEP, set to only allow certain MAC addresses of wireless devices (only 2- the PSP and my wife's laptop which connects with no problem).

I have tried turning off the MAC filter, turning off WEP, nothing seems to work.

Here is what is bugging me:

I can use the Network Update on the PSP wirelessly as well as browse using neighboring hotspots when signal is strong enough....but I cannot get it to work on my own router.

Can anyone help please!?

a few specs that may help:
PSP with firmware 2.80 (newest)...no homebrews - got it on US release day.
router is a Netgear WGT624v3 that has 2 wired computers and 1 wireless laptop connected though it is rare for all 3 units to be online at the same time.

I have tried every setting and combination that I can think of and found on the internet and nothing seems to work, so I am humbly asking for help.

...and if a mod feels this is in the wrong place, feel free to move. I put it here sinec it seems like a networking issue and not a PSP only issue.

Did you read his post? He says it may be a networking issue rather than a PSP problem. I guess it could go either way.

Meh. I read it after making my post. Still sounds like more of a PSP problem than a network issue.

I've look at that already. I think that is an Australian document, it does not even mention using channel 11, which I think is a US standard....

MachOne:
As I have already stated, I can use the PSP Network Update feature wirelessly (which is how I updated the firmware in the first place) it is just everytime that I open the internet browser, I get an error....which is:

"Communication with the server failed. A DNS error has occured. (8011040D)"

which I left out of my original post.....sorry about that folks....This is my problem.
All testing of connections with the PSP test good.

thanks for the help, but I spent the last hour reading through that and some other forums and none of the suggestions worked. So I came up with an idea that is usually what works for computers, albeit it is a lasr resort....

..so what did work was......

I decided to reset all of my settings in the PSP (much like as a last resort, doing a rescue/reinstall on your computer)....Set up a new connection, used allof the default/easy/automatic settings except putting in my SSID and WEP key...and voila!

Glad you got it working. Sorry about the link I gave you, I didn't mean to waste an hour of your time and it didn't even help at all.

It's the world of computers and electronics, eh? You only try and help and find you've been wasting their time because it's another kind of problem. Too many problems nowadays.

Actually it was not a waste of time. I found a few ideas that I had not tried (which also did not work), and it was quite entertaining seeing how some people conduct themselves behind and screen and a keyboard....

at least here, (most) people are civilised when they flame and they still try to help.

It was all of that reading that got me to thinking about resetting the PSP, so no, it wasn't a waste of time -- it ultimately led me to my solution!

so....Thanks!

EDIT: I actually just found a post that used the same solution on another forum. Now that I have it working, now the problem is "not enough memory" when trying to view some web pages, so I googled that.
While reading solutions for that problem (which is to turn off cache in the brower 'tools' section), it was suggested to reset the PSP settings if you have problems with the browser.

So I say for those having problems...reset settings and then start a new connection....

btw.....I guess it was a PSP issue after all....mods - fell free to move if necessary!
