Psp as ps3 controller?

Had some friends over and i downloaded the Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 demo off the PSN and it ONLY has a multiplayer (versus) mode. Luckily i have a g25 wheel i was able to plug in as a 2nd controller. But it's un-usable(or too annoying to use as an actual controller). I was just messing around with the Combos (like in practice mode). A friend mentioned we might be able to use the psp as a ps3 controller. We thought it was the Remote play (which basically displays the ps3 on the psp). So that was pretty useless. Anyone know if it's possible?

thanks,
Robert.

no its not :) you would be missing a fair few buttons even if you could though. no r2/l2/r3/l3 or analogue action buttons. you can use a ps2 controller via an adaptor if you want a cheap solution

I'm still waiting for the PSP's usage as a map and inventory secondary display for games that could utilize that technology. Instead of a in-game HUD or menu system for accessing inventories or maps, have it avalible on the PSP constantly. I actually thought Metal Gear could have used it for their Palm, but no luck.

thanks for the info, good to know. I'll let my friend know he doesn't know what he's talking about :sly:. I just thought it was odd and useless using the psp for remote play? i guess there are only a few games that support that.

thanks again,
-Robert.

But some of the games that do use it are awesome, like Pixel Junk Monsters and High Stakes Poker. Plus it will play any PS1 game, disc or downloaded, and any of the movies, music and pictures on your hard drive. So you can be on vacation and watch a movie or listen to your music that is still back at home. I have an external drive connected to the PS3 with a bunch of movies and TV shows on it and I will Remote Play in when I go to bed and watch a movie on my PSP using my speaker pillow so that it doesn't keep my wife up.

Similarly, when my wife is watching a movie I can go into another room and still play my games.

Some people also use remote play to do PSN store purchases while still at work so that their new stuff is waiting for them when they get home.

Trust me, if you have reasons to use it remote play is far from useless.

/\/\/\ Good info, had no idea it was that capable. The PSP is my brothers, so i won't be using it often, but i'll let him know he can mooch off my ps3's media if he wants to. :)👍

Not while you are using it though. The PS3 must be in Remote Play mode too.

Yeah i figured that out the other day, when we tried to use as a controller, you could function either the PSP or the ps3, not both at the same time. Which is why i thought it was kind of pointless at first, but after you mentioned the travel/streaming feature that is pretty cool. thanks.
