Okay.

I'm trying to update my PSP to the latest version, and I'm having some problems, and they are starting to piss me off.

Let me just summarize it.

I am using a USB cable to download the file to my PSP (with the Memory Stick uo in). I can't download the file directly into the PSP-->GAME-->UPDATE or PSP-->UPDATE folders. I download it to my desktop, then try to move it into the PSP-->GAME-->UPDATE or PSP-->UPDATE folders, and it says I can't do that either (something about this file cannot be found or copied). So now I'm pretty much stuck with PSP verson 1.50, about 1.1 versions behind the current. I don't have the firmware or anything downloaded, so I'm left in the dust. I have formatted my Memory Stick Duo 7 times in the PSP system and to no avail. I'm going to email Sony soon If I can't find an answer.

See if you can find someone with GTA:LCS. It has Firmware 2.1 and requires you do install it before playing. Do that and then you can probably update to the very latest.

Well now I have the updateo n my PSP system, but when I go to it, and "click" on it, it will load up like a game for about 10 seconds, then go back to an error screen saying "The game could not be loaded 800200D9". I emailed Sony, and I expect an explanation from them.

Maybe theres some conflict when upgrading from 1.5 to the very latest. Maybe you could try upgrading to maybe 2.1 and then to the very latest.

Thats what I was thinking..now all I have to do is find a 2.1 update...urgh.

I know theres a site that has every update so far. I'll see if I can find it. :)

Ok, thanks :).

I just hpe I don't have to painfully install every update sequentially (1.5>1.51>1.52>1.53 etc.). I will tear out my hair if I do.

Well, I can't find the site. You wouldn't need to go through each subsequent update. I had 1.51 on my PSP when I get it and updated to 2.1 just fine when i played GTALCS.

Searched my ass off for ya.. Hard to find 2.000 since 2.60 is out..

Hope it works for you m8 :)

EDIT:
Connect PSP with USB. Create a map UPDATE in the PSP folder. Put the EBOOT.PBP file there. :) For downgrading to 1.50 again, ask me, know all about it 👍

Hey, it's better than what you have now!

You are very dense.

I never said I didn't want the update. I didn't have a link (until now, thanks Neocrox, i'll see if it works).

Edit:

Same d*** error. "The game could not be started (FFFFFED0)"

I'm getting pissed. VERY pissed. I do not want to throw this $280 game system at a wall, but I'm tempted.

hey guys, just a quick question about firmware...

let say that I have 2.6 US firmware in my psp and I import a Japanese game which require JP firmware 2.00, do I need to upgrade it to a JP firmware to be able to play the game?

I have a similar problem but when i connect the USB to the computer the computer never brings anything up like it should. I had it working a few days ago but now it's being stupid and decided not to work again. Could anyone help Me?

You don't have to fight with 'em, I've never had a problem.

The only time you NEED to upgrade is when you have a game that requires a higher firmware version, and in that case the update is ALWAYS on the disc. Just be sure to have your AC adapter ready, and the PSP will guide you through the update process. It couldn't be easier.

👍

This is the only thread around the 'net that I've seen with a problem like this, unless it's to do with homebrew, but that's another matter and shouldn't be a problem if you don't use it.
