psx games look worse on the ps2?

ive had this conversation with a friend a few times, we both feel that ps1 games look worse on the ps2. even with smooth/fast loading on/off.

do any of you agree?

Such would seem to be the case with GT2 (but it looks effin' WICKED on the Dreamcast ) Haven't really taken the time to notice with any other games, though.

I think a reason why, though, might be how the PS2 and PS1 render the graphics. The PS2 is capable of more 'accurate' rendering than the PS1 was, so blemishes and inconsistencies that were nearly invisible on the PS1 are now rather obvious in the PS2. One of the reasons why emulators don't seem to capture the entire effect of the original hardware

alot of games run better with " smooth " and fast loading off, especially with silent hill 1 on psone, played on ps2, the draw distance sux with textures set on smooth, its just compatiblity.

Dude, that Dreamcast emulator for GT2 is insane--I've got that thing somewhere. GT2 looked 150% better on the Dreamcast. Too bad the Dreamcast died, Sega finally produced a quality console and the 3rd party support jumped ship to the PS2.
