The PT as a start car is pretty good. It has a alot of power to the front wheels and will easily blitz the sunday cup. It WILL NOT hawever blitz the clubman in stock form.....

even with a turbo stage 1 you will not beat the mitsub on SSR11 in the turbo cup.....
thats with heaps of other mods too

I spent all my money upgrading that bus and it did no good.....

My recomendation is to not buy it first up but to go with something lighter....

It will however beat the NAcup easily. where you can get the crx vti... which will beat the spider n' (whatever(the one with the convertibles)) easy with a little modification :)

so there is an up side.... but it aint easy going :/

Dont be rude.

Yeah basically the pt cruiser is not worth the money for the beginneer's path. The gt3 section doesnt have that post action that had before. We already knew that, the ptcruiser sucks. Best choice is pick up the trueno, or get all golds in license B, it is hard but it will be worth it, you will win a shiny new miata, and you will have 18,000 left. So you can either sell the miata and get a better car or use that money to mod it.

yeah, i know.... the miata is also a good car to start with.... I did it last time.

I was trying something different... and it failed (more or less), but not totally i guess.... the crx is lite n' fast for its size. and altho the HP is'nt high it has a good HP/kg ratio. :)

I am going to continue as i am and build the crx up + keep the PT :)

wish me luck!!!

the crx? yeah, it is a good car. Didnt have the money for that car. Seriously, first moment I went into simulation I was looking for that car. I found but didnt have enough credits :(

Right now even though I have the money, I still dont need it,

Anyways,

good luck

i hate PT Cruisers...they have 0 use.
why can't they drop Diahatsu, Suzuki, Chrysler, and Volkswagen for Ferrari? or Porsche? or even Pontiac?! they'd more than compensate for the rights $$.
--end rant--

i usually had problems with the MR-S in Clubman, or whatever. i always saved all my dinèro instead of modifying my AE86 and dumped it into the Shigeno when i got it.
do that.

hey dude, they cant put ferraris, but porsches... they have ruf here, so be happy. Anyways, EA has the rights to it.... why they dont add some domestics and put Hyundai as a japanese brand.

The CRX is good, but the Civic which is ALMOST identical has way more potential and seems to have a bit more get up and go.

The PT Cruiser is a pretty "ho-hum" car and it wont turn any heads on the track, but I have a Dark Navy one turboed to 245hp and it definitely moves. It is kind of like my version of the PT Turbo.

Another really underrated car is the VW Beetle as a new car. It has about the same mod potential as a CRX but is cheaper, and it has a bigger 2.0litre which has what seems like twice the torque of the CRX.

I think the VW Beetle is a much better car than the CRX and especially when you factor in its LOW price.

i just restarted GT3 today and i chose the PT cruiser to start with. i started with the trueno last time so i thought id go for something different.

its not a bad car, ive won the sunday, clubman, FF challenge and the stars and stripes challenge in the beginner leagueon stage 1 NA tune, racing muffler, chip, sports suspension and a triple place clutch.

it chews through tyres on enduros but overall its a pretty good car.

Do they have Chrysler and/or PT Cruisers in Australia?

Can you buy a Viper, Corvette, Camaro or Mustang in Australia? What are the cars that aren't available to you guys?

the PT cruisers are sold at jeep dealerships along with neons and some other but ugly car.

vipers will be able to be purchased from dealerships soon but we dont get camaros from dealerships. the mustang is marketed here, nobody buys them though. more people buy corvettes.

it would be hard to put a finger on what cars arent available because most cars are available from importing but we get most cars you guys get.

I saw a VIPER for sale in the paper last week. Blue and White, 190 grand. Would be ok... :) But yep, they will be in the Chrysler dealerships with the 2003 viper.. :) Pretty much what said. I have seen one camaro and it was a convertible from 1990 (?) and it was in a mechanic's shop. There was also a mustang there too. First one i've seen in Australia :D

So here is something I have always wanted to ask an Australian.

In Canada/USA the big argument is always between Ford and Chevy. Me and my brother have this argument alot, although I hate Ford, Chevy is alot better than Ford. But I like a ****load of cars more than any Chevy.

Anyways. Except for a few scragglers and Die hards, the general consensus is, that Chevy is superior to Ford. All of the magazines agree that Chevy is better than Ford, although not in such a direct way.

So, what is the general publics ideas as for who is better in Australia?. Holden (GM/Chevy) or Ford?

Are there alot of Die hard fans over there for each? Do they sell Chevy's under the Holden Name. Or do they sell Chevy and Holden seperately??

Thanks in advance.....

A Viper for 190,000?!

As far as I've been told. The Canadian Dollar and the Aussie dollar are almost worth the same amount. there is virtually no exchange rate. So why would anyone buy a Viper for $190,000!! I could buy a brand new 2002 for a little under $100,000. Probably $95,000. Is all of that extra mark up based on shipping costs?

well holdens are the better car company. the simple fact that all holdens have a ****load of grunt has saved them over the years when they had really crappy cars. nowadays, they win awards for best family car, safest australian made car, best sports sedan etc. holden have come a long way.

ford on the otherhand, well they still use the straight 6 motor. thats been their major downfall over the years. they couldnt compete with the holden V6. ford put out a model now called the XR6 which is a souped up V6 sedan. the new falcons have turbo'd straight 6's which will leave holden for dead. but only because of the turbo charger. without forced induction, fords up **** creek here mate.

chevys arent sold under holden accept for the suburban. there are a fair few around but the corvette and the other utes are sold from chevrolet dealerships.

yeah, the new BA falcon is a last ditch effort on fords behalf to break into the market. It is considerably better than the previous models and whips the comparable holden commodores butt.... alas ford is stuck with the "old mans car" stigatism and will be hard to break it.
on a smaller front, ford are introducing the focus (small/medium hatch) which is getting good reviews. it has outstanding handling and OK fittings. however on paper I can see that even the 'sports' model with a 2ltr engine lacks power compared to the oposition....

other opposition in the large car market in Oz is the all new mitsub magna 4wd which should be awsome with (i think) a 180 kw 3.5ltr v6 engine and the toyota camry which is more of an ecomony family car with a 3 ltr v6 (nothing to write home about).

:D

Hmmmm GM vs Ford.

Its odd over here in the uk, seeing as we have Ford and Vauxhall (GM). Ford seems to get more praise than Vaxhall in the car mags/programs. You dont see many Vettes, camaros, stangs over here but you are able to purchase a Viper GTS (although ive only ever seen 1 viper ever)

Although we do get some nice WRC related 4 bangers. The escort cosworth (the car that had the Impreza WRX attitude, before the WRX) and the Focus RS (Crazy FF with 210bhp turbo and toruqe steer)

BA Falcon won the best family car....

And their Turbo XR6 won the best Sports Car under 57,000...

Viper was 190 grand, which is about AMERICAN 90 grand. I think it is expensive because it is maybe one of about three vipers in the country....???

Well, the North American Focus and the Focus served to the rest of the world are light years apart.

The Focus in North America is built in Mexico, and it has had the most recalls of any car ever sold in North America. It is also number 3 or 4 on the national lemon list database. (The Mercury Cougar is number one!)

Although the Focus has recieved minimal praise by a few car mags, it generally loses respect on build quality and cabin materials.

The Focus in Europe atleast, is built (I believe) in Germany and is, as far as I've heard, good quality.

The Focus ST170 is a hyped up peice of crap. It doesn't hold a candle to it's competition. Over here in Canada/USA it is called the Ford SVT Focus (SVT=Special Vehicle Team). My brothers friends bought one and it is honestly one of the biggest rip off cars I have ever seen/driven.

Just for comparison, it was slower than my brothers 1997 Accord 4 cyl Automatic at Race City Speedway Drag Strip. It never beat the Accord once, and the Accord is absolutely stock.

After driving the Focus SVT/ST170, I would seriously guess that about 115-110hp was being delivered to the wheels.

most of this is my opinion (based on knowledge, nonetheless):

Chevrolet - good for...well, uh...jack ****. get with it...OHV .
Chrysler - good for family cars.
Ford - good for trucks / sport untilities.
Dodge - good for the world's best sports car.
Saturn - see Chevy.

...and i must agree with your statement on the "SVT" Focus. see that Camry? it's faster, cheaper, more powerful, will last longer, and looks better.

and easier on the petrol :p

I wouldn't mind a PT Cruiser myself - they are popular down here. The result of which meant I started GT3 with one and although I spent heaps on it, never felt satisfied with the performance.

I recently spent awhile behind the wheel of both a 5 year old Commodore and a Falcon, neither cornered like my 525, although killed it for speed. The new Falcon is being advertised featuring its new sequential gear change, whether this will convert more people over is a moot point. To the average driver, there's not so much to really choose between them. Similar weight, dimensions, economy, capacity, power, speed. My other car is a Honda Legend, now comparing a (non-sport version) Commodore/Falcon with a 3.5 litre Japanese car is more interesting, like the Legend or the Diamante. Both sporting quite powerful engines, plush interiors, bells and whistle etc. The Diamante being cheaper than many Holden variants is a plus. The Legend is about NZ$75k I think and for that you can get a real grunty Commodore, but perhaps not the refinement, as Honda do make fantastic vtec engines.

My missus would like to be rid of both cars and get a Cruiser. She has a long wait..... :D
