Hey guys, I'm looking into buying the fanatec rennsport wheel stand, but ideally I want to put the shifter in a realistic place. Meaning I want the shifter to sit to my right, where a shifter would normally be in a car. Does anyone know a way I could do this with the wheel stand?

Depending on the seat you have (mine's a Playseat) you can order an optional side shift mount. The Fanetec 6 speed shifter will mount on that quite nicely. Much better than the goofy twin shafts that they send you.

Most would probably tell you to get a dedicated cockpit, which is best for sim racing. But if you're like me, and require less space and the ability to put away after use, then the wheelstand is best.

I also own the Rennsport Wheelstand and it's pretty good. Very sturdy. I do have a couple issues such as the center post and the knob for keeping the post in place gets loosened and requires occasional retightening. And as you mentioned the shifter is placed high next to the wheel.

I'm now planning to order the GT Omega steering wheel stand. It does away with the center post and it also has an attachment to connect the shifter low right next to you. I hear nothing but good things about it.

Price would be about the same for both with shipping.

This is what I did to my Rennsport wheel stand. I have the sequential mounted high near the wheel and the H shifter down next to the seat. Can quickly change from right to left too.

I built a mount from 8020 1010 tubing, and just bolted a Fanatec shift adapter to it.
The 8020 tubing is bolted to the wheel stand using the holes already pre-drilled for Fanatec's shift plate.

I also have another thread here at FP that shows how to do it, if you are interested.
