Puzzled - ending movie

At 79% I just raced the GT World Championship in the Professional Hall and unlocked the ending movie.

But I am puzzled. Being unlocked early, and being so "bland" compared to PD's typically outstanding videos seems out of character, so I assume there was a reason.

Does anyone have insight on the intent for this movie?

are you talking about the Silver 350Z at Nurburgring?

I think so. It was a silver car, shot on the 'ring from a helicopter. Total snoozer... I guess I've been spoiled by all the other PD videos in GT3 and GT4.

I am sure he is talking about the Ring by Z vid at the end. :D

However, I don't think "you" hit the ending movie too early. That movie came along for me at about 50% completion.

Oddly, I felt the same as you do but looking back on it now I find it to be a much better ending movie than all of the other ending movies. :boggled:

Just the simple, yet not so common, aerial footage of the Ring was a perfect ending for this new age of GT.

That's the post-ring age. ;) :P

With a tolerable, original (maybe even catchy) ending song, I found the movie to be more in-touch with the world of racing than ever before.

Most of the previous ending movies I can remember were way more boring than this.
I think there were still frame slideshows in past movies, as well as something set to a slow Lenny Kravitz song. :indiff:

GT4 with aerial footage of the Ring is my favorite GT ending movie.
Now begining movies, I couldn't say. :dopey:

Maybe GT3 and the castrol supra?
Or GT2 and the bird?
I can't even remember one.

In any case, an interesting topic for discussion. 👍

I felt like all of the ending movies from the past were the boring ones.

It was only the intro movies I liked on the previous games.

On GT4 I'm not quite as happy with the opening (compared to past GTs) but the ending movie is a pleasant suprise IMO.
I'm a big ring fan. 👍

I've also spent crazy amounts of time getting a dial-up connection to DL 6.5GB of racing videos, none of which have aerial footage of the ring (still have some great stuff though :P ).

Point is, I actually liked the way GT4 has a constantly moving, pure racing feel in the ending movie. Plus, it's more contemperary than the "vintage" effects used in previous games.

The simplicity of aerial race footage combined with my own taste for the ring sell me on the ending movie of GT4. 👍

Anyway, like I said earlier... Excellent topic I just haven't thought about in a long time. :dopey:

I really liked it, even watch it occasionally when I'm done racing for the time being, plus with the loudspeakers I got hooked up to the PS2 that 'Moon Over The Castle' remix sounds sweet. :D

Like Kent said, it's got a true racing touch to it, and being a 'ringer' myself doesn't hurt either. I only wish it didn't end with the 350Z just beginning to make it's run down the long stretch. Then again PD probably shot this after the start/finish was moved to the old pit lane, so the guy driving would have had to pull in anyway.

I've often wondered who the driver of the Z was to be honest. I kinda get the feeling it was K. Yamauchi himself, since he's such a car enthusiast and GT4 is his project after all... just a thought.

I can only guess, but I don't think it was KY driving. Why you ask?

Last time I was reading a gaming magazine about GT4 it had mentioned the cars KY owned and among them were a Porsche of some kind and a highly tuned S2000 with just about everything done to it.

So, with that said, I doubt KY would waste his time in some random "stock-looking" Z when he could have gone out there and really busted some tail in one of his own rides.

Plus, he probably got plenty of time to run the Ring during development, but viewing the Ring from a helicopter. :mischievous:
I bet he would take the helicopter ride for the sake of creative controll over the footage as well as the personal experience of seeing the Ring from a chopper. :D

But getting back to the point...
Sleek Stratos and I are together on this one. 👍
The Aerial footage of the Ring gives this end movie a great feel for GT4 specifically and compared to the previous ending movies, this one rocks!

Although I must admit that it kinda sucks how they had to deal with traffic on the track... I would expect PD to get the track to themselves for the day.

I think KY also got himself a Ford GT not long ago.

True that, although getting the track for a couple hours could've worked just as well. :) I mean, I'd hate to be someone who's visiting the track for the first time and then get turned around at the entrance gate, all because some video game makers wanted the whole thing to themselves.

You get the ending after winning the Professional GT World Championships. I have no idea why they did it before you've started the Extreme events.

Aren't ending movies getting a little old by now? I mean, there's nothing revealing or important about watching some rich guy show off on a racing track with the money we've given him.

Gotta put my vote in for the (not exactly on topic) GT3 intro. That was great and I used to watch it every time I started up. It got me in the mood. The smooth sighing sound when the spark plug fired was perfectly matched. I like the opening operatic bit in GT4 but the revolving Ford GT just isn't as special as the see-through engine block was in 3. In isolation it's good but it's got a tough act to follow. The intro to Driv3r was good too, incidentally. Pity about the game itself

i, like alfaholic, find the gt3 intro to be the best, i love how it begins inside the engine, the detail is great.. the ending movie in gt4 is definately a favourite for me too, i like the simple elegance of it, just wish came later, like once you've achieved 80% or something...

- i disagree with you there pupik, i find the ending movies give a feeling of achievement, and time to reflect on how far you've come in the game. i enjoy the little break it gives me to really appreciate the game..

anyways, there's my two cents..

I would say the Z is the GT4 edition one hence the fact it's in the end movie.

i got the ending moving at around 20% odd it was more liek a beging movie for me. i think they should do it when you get 100% NOT after the Professional Hall.

It is Kaz in the Z. There was a chat on the Playstation Underground forums and a SCEA representative (product manager or something from PD, I don't really remember at the moment) was in it. He was asked a) if that was real, and b) was it KY driving. He answered yes to both.

nice--i had often wondered if that was--in fact--Mr. KY running that Z around Nurburgring... he was putting on a nice run in that end-vid... but why give us the movie so dang early? i don't get it... we get the end-movie super-early, but get no 75% prizecar?! argh!! no matter, though--i thouroughly enjoyed watching KY run the Ring...

GT4... best... GT... end-movie... ever...

and now i'm recalling the movies and such from previous GT games...

most fitting song for a GT intro? GT2's "Favorite Game" by the Cardigans (Nina Persson makes me swoon and think naughty thoughts involving food-items, blindfolds, and rope--but you probably didn't need to know that)... their love of the game and love of music just meshed so well... "it's not just a matter of you versus me"... it still amazes me that our current GT has graphics that outclass this pre-rendered intro...

best GT intro? GT3... 2000... Castrol... Tom's... Supra... JGTC... 500... engine... innards... sweet...

best GT intro surprise? GT4... STOP 4... GEAR 1st... "Panama"... i almost fell out of my seat from having the stereo up a wee bit too loud... few bands rock like a David Lee Roth-fronted Van Halen... the song has a set of lyrics that fits my driving-style, too... "zero dicipline"...

can't wait to see what GT5 brings... 👍

GT1's intro with the Chemical brothers remix of Everything must go was the best imo, it had a great build up whereas GT4's with the camera panning around the Ford GT didn't insiper me as much. After GT1's it was probably GT2's or GT3's but GT3's was backed by awful music imo but I thought GT4's was the worst intro. But I agree with Kent, it's got the best ending movie.

Does anyoune have GT1 intro video?Or just a link to a website with it? I would like to see it again...........IMHO that was the best intro video ever in any racing game I played.

But GT4 end vid...it took me a whole 30 seconds to realise that it was a real life recording, not an ingame vid lol.....

oh bloody blue hell--the intro to GT was Chemical Bros.?! now i really am irkified that i sold GT when GT2 came out all those years ago, hahaha... it's been so long since i've seen that intro *sniff*... i had to base my selections on GT2, 3, and 4... :grumpy:
