Hello everybody I'm about to build a PVC rig based on Simul8r's design with a few of my own personal touches.

As you can see from the renders it's meant to separate for easier storage. What is the best way to attach the two sections? what kind of bolts should I use?

How structurally sound does the design look?

How do I make that hole on the underside of the wheel deck? What is it called and what tools do I need?

Hi detergent!

I have a PVC cockpit as well, except I used Eddy's design since he raised the seat height a little bit, which I really appreciate. I like the GT positioning better than F1 positioning but that's just preference. You can see pictures by way of the link in my signature. 👍

The wholes on the underside of your wheel deck are very useful for mounting wood to PVC and I've done several of them on my cockpit as well. They're very easy to do, you just need to use a spade drill:

Make sure to drill the main hole (the one that goes all the way through) first and use at least 18mm PVC so that it remains structurally sound. I bought a 2-pack with just one 1" and one 1/2" and they've worked out great for me.

The seat mounting pipes are so close together that there could be some sideways flex when heavy braking (Especially if you have a heavy duty brake pedal). I'd recommend putting the joints at the widest part of the rig, and not close to the center like that. To keep them together just drill a hole and use a long nut and bolt. Good luck.
