Hi people:

I have two questions, I'd be thankful if anybody could help me out.

1. I almost have the level required for the most juicy grinding race (Extreme->American Championship->Indy) but I'm running a very tight budget (Currently saving to get an R10) and I would prefer not buying a car specifically for this race. The one car I have in my garage and I think would stand a chance is a Camaro SS. My question is: Would a Camaro SS be enough to beat this race? If not, can it be beaten by a Race-Modded Camaro SS on Slicks? If, again, not, which reasonably prized car (<500k) should I get?

2. Today while doing the AMG Driving School (Got silver up to Advanced :D) I noticed a somwhat "hot" smell from my G27, I touched the plastic casing, and indeed it was pretty hot. I'm playing GT5 in stints of around 4-6 hours straight, is this damaging to the G27? What are the wheel limits? I know it's a quality product (At least it has a quality product price tag) but how much is too much?

Thanks for those who help :D! Have a nice day.

4-6 hours straight is bit too much even for the G27 (and I won't go into how that would affect your general well being). Personally, I would give it a break after 2 hours to cool off and continue afterward. On my G25, I can feel a deterioration in the FFB after about an hour although I often set mine close the maximum setting (and therefore pushing the motor harder).

I've had my G25 since the week they were 1st available. I've played hours upon hours of Gran Prix Legends, GTR, GTR2, GT Legends, all the Race "On, 07, etc" versions and I've never smelled anything but the stench of an idiot that spends too much time on racing sims... I hope nothing's wrong w/it.

....but I'm running a very tight budget ........

Why are you on a tight budget when (Extreme->American Championship->Indy) pays out about $1mill an hour?

Just buy the '09 Corvette - then race mod - then modify more + soft slicks. 1 hour later you'll have your money back and you have the "free" tool to milk that race whenever you want.

5 hours of grinding and you can purchase your R10. ;)

I try to do 10 grind races a night. Then I play the game.

My G25 makes this smell too, but only when the force feedback is really high. I normally have it set at 1 to reduce the heat in my wheel, but some cars like the formula car seem to default FFB to full strength which is really annoying. Also some of the rally tracks seem to default it to full strength FFB also.

So if you lower your FFB setting in the options menu it will definitely reduced the heat factor inside the wheel housing. With FFB set to 1 I can run for many many hours and it wont get hot as long as I don't do the events I mention above.

The wheel should be ok in normal conditions. What is the room temperature where you play? Have you set your ffb to full?

I personally only have a DFP but i have been able to use it for over 24 hours straight without ill effects even though it's supposed to be an inferior product compared to G27.
