So far, I am enjoying the single player more than the multiplayer. Its almost like they are 2 different games completely. Those familiar with the quake series will probably feel right at home in the multiplayer, but I was online playing for an hour and its not really my cup of tea. Fast paced and crazy, basically just a run and gun shredfest with all sorts of crazy powerups you can pick up.
I prefer multiplayer shooters where you can actually think about your options and choose what kind of approach you want to take. Want to run and gun? cool. Prefer to sneak up on people or take them out from a distance? It seems you just can't do that in Quake 4. If you sit in any 1 spot for more than 10-15 seconds, someone will run right in and blast the crap out of you.
Load times are quite long no matter what you are playing though, just like all the reviews complained about. Kind of annoying if you have to re-try a particular single player section a few times but not that big of a deal.
Single player, as mentioned in many reviews, feels similar to Doom 3, but with different enemies and weapons. Thats pretty much why I bought this, I liked Doom 3, and I liked the graphics, and there is a noticable improvement in graphics and sounds on the 360, when compared with Doom 3. The general ambiance is not quite as scary as Doom 3 though.
Yes CB, the game looks as good as the screenshots.
I have read a few reviews complaining about stuttering in the video sequences or during the game. Other than the first time the game loaded up, I havent really noticed this.
ALSO when you buy this game as mentioned earlier in the thread you get a disc with Quake 2 on it. I havent played that yet, but imagine I will enjoy it. Maybe I should try that one tonight too
