Qualifying?

Im new to GT so im not sure but how do you qualify im sick of always starting last its kinda stupid becuase unless you drive your butt of or drive dirty you cant win (i have won my share but still i should have a chance to start from the front) and if i cant win i cant progress.

BTW how many races/ long do you have to play the game until you get to drive the F1 cars
 
You can qualify in tournaments by doing a test run, with single races you can't qualify.

You can only be qualifying from those championship races, not single races. By choose practice from menu, you will be running qualifying labs. Speak for the F1, the game only offers twice. 1 from enduro Nurburing 24h (remember to unlock enduro hall, you need 25% of game completion). the other 1 is by completing the game 100%.
 
I've found that if you do a flying lap as soon as you start qualifying, once you've started the clock that is, it's really easy to put your car on pole.

Each time I've entered a practice session for a championship race, I've lapped 3-8 seconds faster than the other cars.

At the end of the first complete timed lap, press start if you've got first and cancel the other cars possible faster laps.

If you are having trouble getting to the front of the field, just get the nitrous, from the tuning shop for your car, its at the end of the upgrades for the engine, give it a good blast at the start of the race, and usually you will be up near the front pretty damn quick.
