Don't know if I am posting this in the right place or not. If not will someone please direct me to the proper place to post this on GTP.

I am looking to buy a 1990 300ZX N/A.
The car is in good shape besides one thing.

The owner says that "the engine is stuck in limp mode". I have read in different car forums that it is caused by a faulty MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. I am trying to figure out if it would be even worth buying if it turns out to be not as simple as replacing that.

Basically my question.
Has anyone here had this problem with their car or with the J30 engine in general. If yes, does anyone have a solution or know exactly what all could be the problem.

I appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

I'd definitely take it to a shop first before purchase...get an estimate then negotiate.

Well I was thinking about buying the computer diagnosis box to see what codes it is pulling. I am going to get him set on a price and see if I can talk the guy into keeping that price if I fix it on the spot.

I just know these cars are trouble some. So I am trying to make sure this isn't going to be a money pit in the near future

They can become a money pit really quickly if they have any major issues. I've heard about the limp mode issue before so there should be threads on TwinTurbo.net or aus300zx.com discussing it.
I like the idea of using the diagnostic computer and I hope this turns out well for you. 👍
