A little over an hour ago, I was playing GT6 with my Fanatec Carrera wheel. I had a moment where the car began to spin on me and in the process of correcting it, I heard something like a pop or a snap from inside the wheel. After that there was noticeable play in the wheel to the point that it was off-center by about 20-30 degrees with no feedback in that motion.
I did remove the cover from the wheel case to check the gears, which was my initial worry, but found no visible damage to them.
I understand I will have to email Fanatec about this, but what could have possibly broken inside the wheel?
Edit: I'm thinking it's something connected to the motor as the wheel feels perfectly normal when I rotate it while it's off.
