Question about fuel economy

So I'm thinking of doing an endurance race with a BMW 120d. Reasoning behind this is that diesel > petrol in terms of overall fuel economy.

However, have PD/SCEI taken this into account? Or will the 120d use fuel at the same rate as any other car in the game?

I'm curious to see how many laps this car can do without needing fuel.

Thoughts on this?

Most of the diesal cars run longer than the petrol ones in GT5, so I think they factored it in. But the 120d is a really slow car, so unless you are racing similar cars I would take a petrol. The speed difference will make up what ever time you would have saved in the pits.

You only lose 30 seconds per pit... add about 10 seconds if you need more fuel. Given that you can shred your tires (with Racings on) while just using a quarter tank of fuel, that extra 10 seconds saved for every four pit stops (about once an hour) isn't really that much, unless your laptimes are merely exactly the same as the competition, not worth the difference.

And any gain in durability between hard/soft is neutralized by the immense grip loss from using hard compound.

Read: racing soft / petrol wins every time.
