If I play off line or unplug my internet cable, will my updates still show up when I get online later?
Example:
Lets say I play through 3 levels of GRAW. Usually that would be 3 achievements. If I do this off line or without my cable plugged in, will I still get the achievement award for my gamercard?

You will get the achievements, but there will be no date next to them. It will just say "Acquired" rather than "Acquired 7/17/2006"

Thats good news. I was afraid of getting disconnected during a game and then not getting the achievement. Or if the internet was down.

Nah, Microsoft wouldn't have been that evil. I bet there is a surprising amount of users that don't even have their 360 connected to the internet, so it would annoy them greatly if they couldn't get the achievements.

Will the gamerscore still get updated even if your offline playing?

Yep, everything is the same except, as far as I know, what's mentioned above, the date of the achievement not getting recorded.

Ok thank you. If this is all correct then that is really good news. I will never have to worry about being connected or not. The most fun part of the 360 is building your gamerscore higher. Probably the coolest invention in online history. The 360 sure did a great job targeted the online community. :)👍
Pretty much if you dont have online you are missing out.

A quick warning though. In PGR3 (and maybe other games), if you do any of the races offline and want to compare how you did with your friends when you come back online, the detalis won't be there, which is annoying. You'll have to re-do the events again for it to get recorded. Luckily, if you do any achievements and gain points, they'll always be there, even if you delete the savegame.

One thing that annoys me about the achievements is that if you download a demo, then it stays in your profile forever and shows that you didn't get any of the achievements. For example, I downloaded the Smash TV arcade game demo and decided not to buy it, so I erased it. But it still shows up in my achievements profile as 0/12 achievements, taunting my inadaquacies, when I never even really played the real version. Bogus, dude.

Other that that little qualm however, it's really a fun addition to the whole XBOX experience.

I will eventually DL a lot of those arcade games just for the achievements. Plus a lot of them are really fun. I think they would be even more fun with co-op.

Yeah that annoys me to, i have bankshot billiards and bejeweled as demos showing on my gamercard. I am trying to keep my gamercard as complete as possible but some of the arcade games i have seem near immposible.

On a plus note, i finaly got all 1000 points in PGR3 :)

Go ahead, rub it in to us. :guilty:

(I honestly don't know how you're so good.)

Thanks for the compliment, but the answer is i'm not. My biggest virtue is not that i am highly skilled but i have ALOT of patience.

There are only 6 racing games out for the 360 at the moment and out of those 6 i think only 2 of the achievements are hard to get, no crash victories in Ridge Racer 6 and tornament qualifier in PGR3.

WHOA! I just realized I have only owned my xbox360 for 30 days and my gamerscore is already almost 10,000!!! :dopey:

Though the achievement points are a nice thing and add some motivation, I don't really care how many I have. What I want to say is, that I wouldn't call it a major fun factor to get those points. I play a game as long as I have fun and well I take as many points along my way as possible ( means that I won't do an annoying challenge in some random game just for the number behind my name ). But nevertheless the invention is great and I wouldn't really like to live without it anymore. Afaik Sony thinks of a similar system....

I think the achievements and gamerscore are some of the coolest things on the 360. Whats better than getting rewarded for working your butt off for something? They should have done this many years ago. I do try out many games to see all the available achievements. This also makes me play through entire games where I normally would just play online. It also allows me to check out items I would have never known about or cared about. I love the achievemnts and its extremely rewarding when you unlock them. I beat 5 games over my mini vacation and raised my gamerscore from 1,000 to over 4,500. Now its almost 10,000. I really worked my butt off for some of them so I feel I earned all of them. I beat GRAW on normal and now I am going back throught the entire game on hard JUST for the achievemnts. This really helps me get the most of out every game I play. I do hate when people are online in Battlefield 2 or other games just getting their achievements and not playing the game.
I like the gamerscore and it means alot to me. Not more than the actual gameplay but I like being rewarded for achievements. If it wasnt for the achievements I would probably only play online and miss out on some of the really really fun single player modes. I dont go for all of them because lets face it some are just insane!
Thank you Microsoft for the achievemnts and gamerscore!!!! Really adds a lot of replay value to all of the 360 games. 👍

I'm still under 2000 and I love playing my games, I don't care about my gamerscore, I care about having fun with the game and others online. I know those who love their gamerscore so much that they'll actually read guides and walkthroughs in order to get the achievements rather than playing the bloody game first. But to each their own after all ! Some games give you points for nothing at all in fact especially EA titles and the 2K series of sports games popular in america.
