Hi, sorry if this is not in the right place, as I am new. Anyways, we currnetly have dial-up(yes dial-up internet) but we are looking to switch to DSL within the next week or 2. The highest speed we can get is 3mbps down/856kbps up, and I would like to know if this is enough to play GT5 online?

You should be OK. I'm not sure my connection is much different from that and I manage it without too much agro. You may experience some lag if playing with people on the other side of Earth but for general use I can't see a problem.

Hardwire directly to your modem for best results, skip the router. Welcome to GTPlanet!

Thats not really true. I have been using a wireless router from day one and have never had a problem other than having to do the occasional reboot.

I have a dial up and can play online with few issues. Originally I just picked up free wifi signals and still played games online, then got my own service, hard lined from modem to ps3 and got around 6M/875k. Now I moved my tv and connect thru my wifi at around 70% signal strength and get 5M/875k. When I was "borrowing" my neighbors wifi I was getting as low as 15% signal strength from their wifi with 2M/600k and still got online & played modern warfare 3.

Only issue is you should not host a online race room, it can result in long load times. Lag happens from time to time but in-race lag is rare for me, people you race against will point out if they see your lagging.
