I just wanted to know if i paint say a standard model car with a racing stripe like the corvette grand sport, would the stripe remain?

i only ask because i already have painted over cars with other markings like the BMW 2002 Turbo and the Mustang Mach 1 '71 and those labels stayed there after the painting, so is it the same with racing stripes?

I think its a car by car basis. Some do cover the stripes, others dont. Sorry but I cant tell you what ones for sure.

That sucks. Just bought a corvette grand sport with a stripe and don't know whether to paint it.

Also i wonder whether if you paint the car matte would the stripe stay metallic? That could be good - imagine a white matte car with an only-slightly darker shade of white metallic stripe? (drool......) :)

I posed a similar question in regards to changing the hood. I have a Viper ACR and I love the hood stripes and the vents/scoops. I wouldn't want to risk losing either for just 5kg. Hopefully whoever has the answer to your question can also answer mine... :boggled:

Bought a Viper. Changed the hood. Vents and stripes remained. Did a paint job, stripes disappeared.

You can check the effect of any paint ,after you paint a car and dont like the look just quit the game using the PS button on the controller, the game only saves the paint scheme when you back out of GT Auto.
So, if you paint a car with stripes and the stripes are gone after painting just quit before you leave GT Auto

Happy painting

wow if that happens on a premium then itll almost certainly take the stripes off my corvette.

fortunately it came in a really shiny blue so it looks pretty good anyway.

but thanks for that it helps me now in the future. what another disappointment by PD (albeit a little one) :)

Good call! 👍 Thanks, man!

Painted the Cobra, bye bye stripes. I'm happy with the colour though so the stripes are not so important to me.

You're basically stuck with a 'try it and see' scenario. Some cars with stripes cannot be painted, period (ex: Chevelle). Most cars with stripes can be painted, but you lose the stripes (ex: ACR Viper). Fewer cars with stripes can be painted, while retaining racing stripes in their original color (ex: Viper GTS R Concept).

do you know about the corvette grand sport by any chance?

Great advice, why didn't I think of this?

I haven't had a chance to purchase one, but something tells me it can't be painted. I'd love to be wrong, however, and be able to paint one -- with stripes intact.

This really irritated me. I bought a Ford GT specifically without stripes (premium model), and when I painted it in GT auto the stripes appeared.

i just picked one up today and you can actually paint it - hence my concern because i don't want to lose the stripe because its a nice colour as it is but if it was a horrible colour i'd just change it anyway and not care so much lol.

I did exactly the same ... painted my red Cobra a lovely metallic blue colour hoping it would retain the stripes too - sadly not 👎

Sounds like the game fixed your mistake!

Paint it and find you, you big ol sissy. Gah!

Anywho, the white stripe down the middle, and the red stripelettes remain when re-painted.

After reading this thread yesterday I tried painting my BMW Tii
painted it chrome , looks amazing ,the stripes stayed, chrome across the black carbon hood and black across the chrome, It looks heaps good

I painted my Corvette Grand Sport and the stripe was still there afterwards, so you should be ok painting it.

I painted my Cobra too, I would have liked stripes but I like the color better. The 73 Charger does keep it's graphics.

Purchased a mustang gt350r and I was painting it gunmetal grey (hoping to achieve an elanor look) but unfortunately i lost the stripes =(

So I just wanted to confirm that the Viper GTS-R concept does retain its original stripes after being painted.

I havent tested this myself, but I'm wondering if is still possible to paint a car, quit and reload without it saving the paint, or have the updates fixed this?

FYI the '98 old Mini keeps the white top and white bonnet and side stripes

I think is it the F430 Scuderia that changes it's stripe colour when you paint the car... Like white will give you a black stripe, Red gives you black, dark red gives you light gray or something...

Painted the Ferrari F430 scuderia with a tour de france blue for Ferrari cars on sale in the dealership - wasn't until the stripes turned white that I realized the color could be faded off in dying the car with another paint each time. :(

That's funny, because when I chromed my GT350 R, the stripes were there but nearly invisible. You'll lose the roofline stripes, but the bodyside stripes will be slightly discolored or a different shade of the body color.

My GT350R is Red and it has no stripes so im pretty sure they aren't discoloured or a different shade.
