Well, it's come to my attention before now and I was wondering, will users ever be able to edit the polls they make? I don't see how editing a poll you make could be harmful in any way; in fact I think it would help the moderation team a good deal. So, is there a way to edit polls you've made, and if not, will there ever be? Thanks...

Yes, I know that thank you; I was asking if there's a reason why Jordan has decided not to enable it for us lowly normal people...

Actually, if you could edit your own polls, you could theoretically post one, collect a lot of votes, and then rearrange the categories for each group of votes to fake the outcome of the poll.

But is that really such a bad thing? I mean, sure, if someone were trying to do a study, then things would be all fine and dandy, but what if it was just something as simple as correcting errors made in the poll (like formatting errors, spelling, coding, etc.)? I can't really see any major problems coming from it...

Actaully it could have fatal consecuences. Lets say I start a poll...get lots of votes for one subject...and later change it to: "Everyone who hates Jpec" whithout you seeing the original...and you commit suicide! Then we'd have a lawsuit on our hands.

Yeah I could see it making sense to change polls before anyone votes (probably hard to code), but after even one ballot has been cast, it would be bad to allow changing them.

Exactly. Say you started a poll and asked who liked drifting and who didn't. 40 people vote saying the don't drift and 10 vote saying they do. If you're a fanboy, this offends you - so you go in and switch "like" with "hate". Voila. Instant results, just the way you wanted to see them, but totally untrue.

PS - before anybody blows a gasket, this is just an example.

As I recall from my days as the Pit Moderator at the GTF (home of some of the silliest vBulletin polls ever posted) a moderator, supermod, or admin can edit a poll, including adding more selections...

The simple solution is if you post a poll and it needs editing contact your friendly Forum Mod, Supermoderator, or Admin via PM. ;)

Like everyone has said, allowing poll edits could cause a lot of trouble. It's better to avoid the situation all together by only allowing moderators to edit polls, as NoQuarter recognizes.
