OK Here's the deal. Our driver for GTPlanet was working on race 8 late last night and came across his best run yet, it's .330 faster than his previous save. Upon reviewing the replay he noticed that on lap 1 he went all 4 off past the rumble on the 90 degree right after T1 unintentionally by a small amount. Is it legal or not to have an off in this race without a penalty? According to the rule here:
3.9.2: Short Races (less than 5 laps): Offs, Wall Touches, and non-beneficial AI Touches shall be assessed a penalty as follows:
1 Off or Touch: no penalty
2 Offs or Touches: 1.0 second total penalty
3 Offs or Touches: 3.0 second total penalty
4 or more Offs or Touches: DQ
...it seems that you are allowed one mistake. But in the race description it says the following:
Round 8 - Deadline 12:00P GMT 26 September 2005
Submitted by Torc Talk:
TRACK: Infineon Stock Car Course
CAR: Caterham Seven Fire Blade 2002
SPECS:
Mode: Arcade Single Race
Modifications: Power ±0%, Weight -10%
Tires: Sports Soft, S3
Settings: TCS & ASM set to 0 (zero), top speed open
Options: 2 laps, AI +10, no tire wear, penalties, or time limit
Notes: Tarmac run-off areas on this track may NOT be used - obey rules for "Track definition". No wall contact. 2 wheels on track at all times. No AI contact with the other single AI car.
So which one is it? One off allowed or no offs? What we have done for now is submitted the time that is .330 slower and 100% clean as our official entry, and also submitted the faster run for consideration...the faster run is clearly off in that one spot but the rest is totally clean. To his credit, my driver did not want to submit a lap with a clear off like that as his official entry, and I would prefer not to also, but if the rules allow an off I am wondering if we should enter the faster time??? Anyone have any toughts on this??? My driver has gone to bed and I just woke up to find this dilemma so any input from captians and/or Duke would be appreciated.👍
