Question about the Oil change for more HP?

Hello, I am new to gtplanet and Gran Turismo games. GT5 is actually the first racing simulator I have ever owned so forgive me for my newbishness, but I am having a blast and am ADDICTED lol. Being my first GT I just learned about the whole doing an oil change for new cars before driving them, for more horsepower. I didn't do this with my Furai which is a car I absolutely love so far. Is it too late for this car to ever reach its maximum potential (HP wise) or can it simply be fixed with an oil change then an engine overhaul immediately after? Is that initial boost to HP with the initial oil change basically a one time deal or no? I've done some searching, and due my lack of understanding for the game I still don't have a very clear understanding of this. If anyone could help explain or clarify things, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Also is mechanical/performance damage based SOLELY on mileage or will crashing/collisions speed up the damage?

It isn't too late. Change oil and it will be fine. Engine overhaul isn't needed unless you have a hi mileage on the car (which means at least a few thousands of miles).

The oil change works only once to give the full potential of the car, but don't forget to change it from time to time (every 3 races or so) as you'll notice the power of your car diminishes a little.

Crashing will not speed up the mechanical damage of your car in A-Spec, but I think for online racing it will. Not sure about that, though.

Ok thanks, but when you said that the oil change trick was only a one time deal, will my HP ever be as high as if I had done the oil change trick in the first place?

It is not so much A trick than oil goes bad and kills engine performance. I think the first change is that it puts racing oil in the car?

I think he may have meant you can't change the oil twice and get extra HP. Change it once, get the HP boost, then after a few races check to see if your HP has gone down. If it has, change the oil again to go up. After breaking in your engine the HP should go up a bit as well.

Used cars definitely need their oil changed as the oil has turned to mud, but new cars get a little boost as well when you first purchase them.
