Question for Driving Force GT owners

Thinking of getting DFGT and I was looking around my home for a ghetto mounting method, then I spotted my Ion Drum kit from my Rock Band days collecting dust in the corner.

My worry here is the thickness/girth of the tubing and how well the DFGT would clamp onto the frame, as it has a ridged design.

Anyone with a DFGT who has some experience with the mounting clamps think it would work?

Well, I guess you are the man to talk to. How stable is it? Do you have the drums and stuff on for added stability or just storage? I was just going to strip it down to a basic frame.
