Question for Playseat owners

I'm weighing the cost of building a racing sim seat versus buying one pre built and I have a few questions for Playseat owners.

1) Does the steering wheel wobble at all during play? It seems that with only a single beam holding up the steering wheel that it would wobble during heavy force feedback usage.

2) How easy is it to replace the seat? I have an actual car seat that I picked up to start a build project and I was wonder if I could mod the Playseat to use the seat I already bought.

I've got a playseat v1 which did not have the bar between the legs, so it wobbles like a weeble. The current models are prob fine though. I'm about to upgrade to a seat with bars down both sides instead of the central post as I don't want anything between my legs. There are several options which are cheaper and prob better than the playseats:

I'm a bit fussy, so my comments in brackets may not be relevant for you, but I'd take any of these over any playseat:

Gt omega (too red)
Obutto (too heavy)
Speedmaster v2 (no tilt on seat)

The column that supports the wheel has a little bit of play in the connection. It is two pieces (a mount attached to a long tube that slides into the base tube connected to the frame) that allows you to adjust for height, however this is nothing that a small piece of cotton (q-tip size) won't fix. This may just be from wear or a slightly deformed column, nonetheless it has not affected me whatsoever. I have not even tried to fix it. It ends up being more of an off-center issue (by about 1/2-1 inch at the top of the mount) than a "wobble." Other than that the rig is very stable.

The seat should be relatively easy to replace with minor modifications. If you already have a playseat with rails then it should be a rather easy process by bolting the Playseat rails onto the replacement chair, then attaching the rails back onto the seat base.

Sorry if anything is unclear; if you would like pictures or video just pm me.

I have the Playseat Evolution and it's a champ. Very sturdy, reliable and comfortable. You can adjust nearly everything, leg length (most important for us tall folk!). Steering wheel height, steering wheel distance away from you. The seat itself doesn't adjust forward or back, but if you get the slider you can easily slide the chair forward and back.

Building your own may be better if you know what you are doing and know what is comfortable for you. Otherwise I'd say, time is money and getting a playseat is money well spent and time well saved. I have some pics in my sig too :)

Just filled it out. Here is hoping for them to come up with something for around $200 with a nice racing seat.

One thing to consider, at least if you're in the US is that Amazon stocks Playseats, and if you have Amazon prime, you can get 2nd day delivery for FREE... Very worthwhile... You also get Amazon's return policy, if the Playseat turns out not to be what you need...
