Question: if I like the rally mode in GT3, what other games might I like?

I'm considering Colin McRae Rally 3 and WRC. Despite complaints regarding unrealistic physics on GT3 rally, I still like it a lot. Other games I'm also considering are Kaido Battle and Battle Gear 2. Please post your thoughts, a little comparison would be even better, especially on the physics.

Thanks.:)

If CMR 3 is anywhere as good as CMR for the PSone, you will not be disappointed.
I have heard that WRC is also very good. It should be going over a million copies sold soon which will bring the price down to about 20 bucks a copy.

Sorry.. The feel of Cmr3 is cr*p compared to Cmr2....

Been looking for a rally game myself and I can't decide what to get :(

CMR3 is great, the grahpics are way better than GT3, i aslo reccomend WRC but not WRCII Extreme...i have all three games... WRCII has stunning graphics and playback modes but its just too difficult and will leave you frustrated and feeling you have wasted your money....i would do for CMR3...it even has a Fiat Punto Super 1600 rally car for Ving to play with (similar to my Punto HGT)....

WRC II would have to be a first choice if you like rallying, and second choice for me would have to be CMR 3.0

A friend of mine says that in CMR3 carhandling is a lot more realistic and I tend to agree. Although it's a lot cooler to drive real tracks, the handling of CMR3 is really a lot better.

I've got WRC, and I don't like it. There are two principle gripes:
1. There is a definite 'fast' line through the tracks, and it's right down the middle of the road, not over what would be considered by a rally driver to be the racing line.
2. The co-driver is late on a LOT of calls, as in "1 left... into... " *BANG* "... tight hairpin right"

the late co driver in WRC was probably added to give the game more realism...during last years NZ rally one of the co drivers actually lost his notes out of the window and had to do a stage blind...cant remember who it was (someone will no doubt let us all know)...co-drivers arent perfect..

WRC is more playable than WRC2 extreme...i would love to hear from anyone who can complete a couple of stages getting green at every checkpoint...and WRC2 cars seem to have superglue stuck to them..when you come in contact with a wall you should bump off it and scrape past in a real car, but in this game you seem to stick to the wall and get spun round...bloody frustrating. :banghead:

the racing line for rally is completely different than the line for road racing....down the middle IS the fastest way in order to stick with the previous cars' tracks otherwise you'll get busted axles and body kits from traversing the wheel ruts....its a bit like a train staying on its rail tracks rather than making its own way through town in order to make the racing line shorter..(okay its an extreme example but you get what i mean)

Not on tarmac. You should be able to cut the corners like you see the real life drivers doing. Also, you would expect the fastest line on the rally to be where all the other drivers before you on the stage would have been, and this is not necessarily down the middle of the road.

Now here's an interesting question - can any of these games save replay files that could for instance be used in online challenges?

Sony's WRC is an amazing game. The original is two years old and looks better in many ways than CMR3. WRC II Extreme is amazing, it easily surpasses every other Rally game on PS2.

Sony has the exclusive WRC license so if you dig realism it is the way to go.

CMR3 is very good, but you can only play as Colin McRae in the career mode - this means that the Ford Focus is the only car in career mode. After GT3, having only one car to play in the meatiest part of the game is sad.

If you live in America, the original WRC is the only one you can get and it is starting to become rare. Compared to GT3 it is a bit rough around the edges, but for a rally fan it is a great game.

Wierdo.

Anyway, i'd say WRCII (not WRC) is much better than Colin Mcrae3, to me CMR3 had simmilar handling problems to toca racedriver did. WRCII looks much better than it's predicesor and has nicer (less floaty) handling and seems more challenging.

Oh and it doesn't have fiats in it which is a definite plus point.

Also Arwin WRCII does have the option to save your replay, although I think it is in one central file making it akward. Although I think it already has some sort of on line ranking thing.

Because of FIAT we have front wheel drive Alfas and no more Lancia Deltas.

Bastards deserve to go out of business.

Actually their cars are not that bad.

Because of FIAT don't we have Ferrari and Maserati? ;)
