So i have spent the last hour searching, and haven't been able to find quite what I'm looking for. I'm not even close to getting to these two races yet, but I am just curious as to a few things. I restarted my whole GT5 game because I decided that I wanted to play through all of A-Spec as it is intended to be played- with comparable cars to the competition, not just decked out monsters that lap the AI countless times.

I'm enjoying the game so much more than I was before, but it does leave me with a few questions, mostly in regards to the 24 hour races.

1) What are the most common cars in the 24 hr races? Are they all LMP's?

2) Does anyone have an idea as to roughly what time the races start in game? (I want to try and synchronize to some effect the daylight in game to the daylight irl.)

3) I have read a little about some pitting glitches with the ai in these races, and was wondering, just how bad/common are these glitches? and just what exactly happens?

Also any recommended cars that would allow for an even race with the competition?

1) Actually, the cars aren't that difficult to beat. At last 24h race at Nurburgring, fastest competitors were Bentley Speed 8, BMW V12 LMR and Pug 905. It is also possible to encounter Audi R8 RaceCar '01, I think.
2) Le Mans - 3 pm. Don't know about Nurburgring, but about the same.
3) I don't know.
And maybe use some of typical opponents' cars.

Hi Puckhead73,

I did both 24 h races in A-Spec (Le Mans 2 months ago, Nürburgring this week).

Regarding your questions:

1) If I remember correctly, at Le Mans all AI cars were LMP's. At Nürburgring roughly half or most of them were LMP's but there were also a few "other" cars (e.g. Blitz DUNLOP). (If you really want, I can look it up for you :).)
2) I don't know the exact time (I think Le Mans is 3 p.m. as stated by others) but both start in the afternoon because a few hours later it begins to dawn.
3) Never heard/read about it.

From the amount of b spec 24hr races iv done, it seems the ai suffers from the 10% auto pit in problem... When a driver reaches 10% energy they will pit and change, which is fine to start with as they can do plenty of laps between stops, but each time a the drivers swap around, they dont seem to charge back to 100% strength, so they have less energy after each stop and subsequently do less laps, after a few hours they will all end up pitting every other lap, which kind of ruins any challenge using the same car as the ai

so is that only in bspec then?

and it isn't a huge deal, i just seem to remember that in the one of the 24 hr enduros on gt4 that it was more composed of touring cars than lmp's. I wouldn't want to get all excited and pumped up with my buddies to start this race just to find out i had purchased and tuned a car that would completely demolish the ai. :) we want the race to feel as rewarding as possible.

Pitting glitches only in B-spec
AI sometime during the 24h races pits almost every lap!!??

So in A-spec all normal and you will work hard for the win... i tried it with 787b and i know what im talking about

I managed to lap the R8 in the 3hour of 24h race in Nurburgring.... the R8 will push you to the limits

Best thing to do is use the power limiter on one of your lmp/lmpgt cars to make it a more realistic experience rather than blow them out for 24 hours.

for 3); I've had some experiences with the AI pitting to change their tires on the second lap for some odd reason so they pretty much give you a 1:30 second lead. I've only had this happen in Super GT in expert though :P I'd say kjeezy23's got a point, just powerlimiter it, probably run the first minute and see how balanced it is, and if you still feel like you're going to be lapping them, turn it down more.. making it very balanced will make it kind of frustrating though imo, just because if you make a mistake 12~16 hours in, you really have got to push it to make up for those lost seconds... anyways good luck.

Okay, there is an easy way to prevent that in B-Spec. Simply turn off the pit by strength level option. With it off AI drivers will only pit for tires or fuel.

I've seen this when doing the Dreamcar Championship in A-Spec & B-Spec, but there is a reason for it. Say you were just doing the Monza race in the rain. The next race is Tokyo R246 which is a dry race. The AI still have the rain tires on from the last race at the start. This is why they pit after doing only one lap. I figured this out in B-Spec when my AI drivers did the same thing. It happened when I forgot to switch tires when going from a wet to a dry race.

I'm doing the Le Mans 24H right now.

Re: 1) In my race there are two Oreca Vipers many laps behind, and an R390GT1, BMW McLaren F1 GTR, & Mercedes CLK-GTR a few laps down. The rest are all LMP's - Toyota GT-One, Audi R8, R10, etc. with a Pescarolo the fastest A.I. car.

Pretty sure that's still a problem unfortunately. I've been surprised by some of the pitting the AI has been doing during some of the other endurance races (pitting early).

That's a glitch that PD needs to be fixing instead of being concerned with the going off track and getting credit glitches. They fixed that one in a hurry but when it comes to something critical to make the game fun they either ignore it or get to it much later.
