Hey there everyone! I just recently decided to get GT5P from the PSN. Im really into the HDD games and not having to use disc(I hate discs). Anyways, when playing, I can run into situations that cause definite slow downs in fps. Everywhere I read on search engines I see text stating its 60fps but cant find anything on it not running well.

I have this paranoia that my digital copy is buggy or something because I dont have flawless performance. So does this game always run great or does everyone get some slow down when alot of AI traffic and you get cramped in a corner??? BTW it either is an offline(AI) only thing or if it is online too Im way to pumped and steady focused to notice the slowdown online.

Thanks for any info!

BTW: I dont have blu ray copy of game, so Im not aware of any previous experience on it running

I have the blu-ray copy, but my experience is that while there is usually no slowdown at all it is possible for it to occur when the field is very tight and compacted into one small area of the track and your car is near the rear of the field looking at everyone else. It never slows down enough to affect my steering or anything but I've noticed it a little bit before.

My understanding is that the online wouldn't have this issue because while in single player mode your PS3 has to process all the physics information for all of the cars on the field while in multiplayer each player's car physics is computer by their own system and fairly simple information regarding their position is sent to the other players. So less stress on your PS3 meaning smoother framerate. Someone will tell you if I'm completely wrong but lag in multiplayer sessions will only be caused by network / connection issues so usually you won't have any if you've got a good connection.

Edit: I like the convenience of digital too but unfortunately full length games will not be coming to PSN often if at all in the future due to the harddrive volume that they each consume, so hopefully you haven't written off getting discs completely or you'll miss out on stuff like GT5.

Edit 2: The 60 FPS reference means that it generally runs that speed, and it does... slow down should be pretty rare, but it can occur sometimes. If it's happening besides the situation I described that sounds abnormal.

Great! The only slowdown experience is in the situation you describe. And no, never enough to effect my gameplay, but still just worried me because I expect the best performance. But sometimes we gotta take hits I guess(ever played Dynasty Warriors 6?lol)

I will def. be getting my copy of GT5(already ordered of course). My statement on enjoying HDD games was meant for mainly reference to the smaller games that never see a blu ray copy. Of course sometimes jewels come along that do soo well they then produce blu ray copys afterwards!(WipeOutHD)

Maybe PS4 will have like a 6 disc changer blu ray drive! How bad*** would that be lol

Yeah, hopefully the final version will fix it up and we'll have smoothness at all times, the little amount of slowdown is tolerable for something that isn't even really the full version of the game I guess.

I agree about the HDD games, there's some great stuff you can get cheaply too. Flower is amazing, and stuff like Bionic Commando: Rearmed is awesome and probably wouldn't get released in a box.

Maybe when the next Playstation comes around harddrive space will be so cheap it won't be an issue... of course games will probably take up so much more space by then that it'll not help. Maybe we'll just log on to a central server and play there. Lol I guess that's something for another thread.
