1. How much HP and PP can you get out of the motor by tuning it?
2. Can you install a fully customizable transmission to the Jay Leno Tank Car?
3. Can buy it racing soft tires?

Just want to know in advance.

Thank You.

933hp if I remember correctly is the fully ran-in car with an oil change, you can't tune it however.
You can install fully customizable transmission.
Yes, you can put racing softs.

Ahh! One of my personal favorite rides is being discussed.

First of all, for the two guys that are saying that a customizble transmission can be purchased, I think you're wrong. Only tires and oil change can be added to the Tank Car. It's been like that since GT4.

Second, I highly recommend that you detune it to around 650HP instead of keeping it with the 930HP that it has stock. The car has a rediculous amount ot torque (near 1200 foot pounds), those 930HP really don't give you any advantage. As a matter fact, those 930HP only make things worst and you'll find yourself burning the tires in 4th gear.

If you bring down the power, that will ease up things and you'll actually be faster in it. Besides, you'll still have around 1000 ftlb of torque to move that beast. With only 650HP the acceleration and top speed won't be affected at all, trust me. You'll end up getting more grip. I even drive mine with Sports Hards.

And one more thing. Don't expect this car to be competitive since it is not. Remember it weights more than 6000 pounds and it's huge. the cars that you'll be able to keep up with will be those who don't exceed 480pp. But the Tank Car is not about winning, but about having fun in it.

I'm confused. 2 people say yes and some people say no. Can you post pics proving this? (tuning shop in the transmissions section)

I don't have a camera in hand right now, you'll have to trust the word of someone who has had the game since release and drives the car in a daily basis. The Tank Car is one of my favorite cars and I've been waiting for the transmission to be available update after update. No modification is available for the Tank Car yet. Only tires and oil change.

The stock transmission as a pain since it's short and it will let you reach about 160mph/260kmh, reason why the 930hp are not really needed. You'll reach maximum speed really quick and hit the rev limiter.

Why not just buy the car and try for yourself? Money is so easy to come by in GT5.

Here's another person confirming the only thing that can be bought for the Tank Car are tyres, nothing else (maybe chassis reinforcement as well, dunno, this car doesn't need it anyway).
And aside from brake balance, there's nothing that can be changed too, it is what it is, which is great fun on Sports tyres which it'll eat like there's no tomorrow.

Trans cannot be updated, I'll add to those who said it.

Its a cool car, but not adjustable. I'll have to try that Madrid Mini-World Compact Car Race thing

For the love of Kaz they need to add adjustable tranny, just so we can see how fast this thing will go.

:tup:That will not only make the car go a bit faster, but it will surely make the car easier to drive through corners. The stock trans is too short. I've been wanting the custom tranny for this car for ages.

It used to have adjustable transmission but PD removed that option last year after an update

I own 3 tank cars
The first one i owned I adjusted the top speed on it and after the update it still has that top speed but i cannot change it back anymore
My other tanks have slower standard top speed, I wonder why they removed that option

You can ONLY tune tires..
It's unfortunate that you can't at least turbo charge it..
Jay Leno has an actual Twin Turbo Tank Car that makes 1500hp

Yes. I think he did it to make the engine much more eficient. The side effects were getting almost as twice the power.

It would be cool if we could get this updated version of the Blastolene Special, with the turbo upgrade.

Does anyone know how to stop this car locking up or does it just always do that? any tyre, any abs setting, any brake balance I can't stop it.

I use Sport Hards to simulate the grip and compound of those huge tyres.

ABS to 0 and Brake ballance 1/1 to simulate the weight of the car and its inhability to slow down quickly.

Locking the inner front tyre is normal for this "car" due to its massive bus disc brakes combined with the tiny front wheels, but it isn't that bad.

Other than that, there is nothing you can do. This thing is not really ment for aggressive driving.

I just want to point out that this car IS tunable. It took me a LONG time to find the proper brake balance.
Try it on comfort hards, you'll get a good laugh online.
