From my experience i believe so yes. Vettel is the pace setter and the gold target from what i understand about the differences in times etc from me to him and the gold award etc...
I got ahead of him on Monza, but it doesn't really make sense that you have to pass him to get gold because he leaves the pits and his time should start before you.
Yeah, i cut the second chicane in like 4th gear haha.
in the second chicane you can basically go all the off in the first part of it and full speed (almost top of 4th) in the second part. i think as long as most of your car stay on the green parts outside of the rumble strips you are all good.

Although I think most of the time is made in the 2 right handers that follow. 4th gear for the first one then down to 3rd for the 2nd one. I ended up finish 9 tenths in front.
@Jamie C- You can finish behind Vettel and still get gold. I beat Vettel at both Monza and Suzuka, but at the Nurburgring, I didn't, yet I still got gold in all of them.
