The main reason why I purchased the game 2 days ago is that I'm an avid soccer games fan and Konami Winning 11 series is top notch so Enthusia should be very good right ?
Let's see.

Car handling: excellent and unforgiving, one can really feel the difference when driving a FF vs. an FR car

Sound and graphics: great

AI: not bad, a little better than GT4

Tracks: I generally don't like city tracks so imho, the less the better ( I completely dislike Paris and Seoul in GT4 ) so I was not impressed with route de la Seine , Victoria Road and Marco strada.
On the other hand, I enjoy Tokyo ( GT4 ) , route 11 ( GT1 ) and Rev City. maybe because they are wider than your average city track.
Right from the beginning I enjoyed Cosmic winding and Autumn hill ( I almost said autumn ring mini )

Points system: too complicated but at least you loose points if you drive as if you were at a demolition derby.

Car adjustments: good, I just wish there was a brakes adjustment.

No racing modifications, but it's not that much important to me I'm not a ricer anyway.

Do I like the game ? You bet I do, it'll keep me busy until next month when winning eleven 9 comes out.

Nice work Konami, Enthusia is on par with Richard Burns Rally.

NSX-R
Although slow, AI is way better than GT4's. It actually avoid hitting! kinda suprising after playing with GT4.

Maybe I was a little harsh about Enthusia AI.
so I revised the note from" not bad" to good.
I think we'll have to wait for the Playstation3 with more powerful processing power to see an increase of the AI in racing games.
More CPU power will increase the number of neurones in the virtual drivers brain.

Glad you like the game, this is really the Internet's #1 (and only?) Enthusia community. Have you tried Driving Revolution? You really get to handle some unique cars in some unique situations that you might not otherwise try.

The 2nd day, I tried Driving revolution and my 1st reaction was: "What the hell for a license test is that, all those green, blue and yellow gates are more apropriated for a ski slalom game ?". It took me about half an hour to understand the logic behind it.
Granturismo licenses test are more about pure speed, while Driving Revolution is of course about speed and right timing .
Now, I'm addicted to Driving Revolution the same way a lot of racers are addicted to the gold licenses in Granturismo.

Some of the lines in Driving Revolution make no sense whatsoever to me, especially the Evo III one in Mysteric Cave(?), I had to STOP, turn tightly, then full throttle facing the INSIDE wall!!! If I can use reverse, I would, but you lose if you do so...

Thats where its about timing. I thought the whole coming to a near complete stop was retared then not making it to next part in time, but i realise its not totally about perfect lines but timing. I llove the fact that in some of the levels you can drift like a mad man and still get perfects it looks and feels so rewarding to do that :).

AE86 at Tsukuba in the rain... oh baby. 👍

Altough I like to play the tests in GT4 until I get gold, I still find Enthusia's Driving Revolution more fun to play.

Just a quick response to the liscence comparison question.

IMO, 99% of the DR tests are vastly easier than golding GT4 liscenses. In DR, you are basically taken by the hand and shown where to go and how to get there, where in GT4, you're given a track and a car and you have to figure it out on your own. That's not to say that DR is easy, cause being shown what to do and actually doing it are two different things. I think up to Gold/S, the two games are quite similar, though. This is just comparing the number of tries I had to go through to complete each test.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled posting.

I've been toying around with Enthusia for about 9 hours now and I must say it's quite different than GT4! To me the cars just respond more realisitic. Almost all my races I've done are done with a Caddilac Seville (300HP, FF) and that car goes like crazy!

The AI is a bit slow though. I've defeated a lot of powerful cars with my heavy Seville and agressive driving style. Maybe they're scared ¬_¬"

Anyway, I was also wondering when do you unlock the Dragon Range? I'm eager to drive that course!

You unlock Dragon Range (and other tracks) when you reach Ranking 500 in Enthusia Life. You unlock Lowenseering at Rank 250. You will know when they're open because they'll be available as races in Enthusia Life.

They are then also available in FR and TA modes.

Alright, I'm confused now. I looked at my completion statuses and it said I was only 90% complete with Free Run Mode. O.K. I completed DR and have all the cars in FR and I have ranking level 400 in EL, was 276 until I got my M3 GTR. (I love that car soo much, but it's so hard to drive) So what's missing? I notice that the snow, and some of the backward and rain tracks arent in FR. Do they get unlocked sometime? I thought I'd beaten FR along time ago. :odd:

You have to win FR-no-flags-standard-settings to unlock a track in reverse, so if you beat FR earlier but you hadn't unlocked all the tracks from EL, that could explain it.

Also, remember to hit "Save" as soon as you unlock a reverse track.

Recently I'm getting sick of earning Ranking points and 'winning' cars. The physics are very very good, but I'm tired of that other 'arcade' stuff... Right now I'm even considering it bringing it back to the stohr and get my money back.
It looks good, but you can't race against eachother in a great choice of cars.

EPR is a really good game when it comes to the AI and car handling, but the thought of 'arcade-racing' messes-up the game for me.

I don't see the point of bringing back the game when the car are actually pretty fun to drive. I still have GT3 that have an incredible engine fun to drive. I often have the feeling to just drive fast around corners on different racing games, so I often pop one & start to run laps on any track with a car & see how fast I can get with it. If I would sell my games, I would spend a lot of money on renting, lol!

Well, I only like thhe lvl 18 DR test.

The rest is not fun at all. I prefer GT4 style license test.

But then go to time attack, get a lvl 10 corvette, tune it for oversteer and voila, Dragon range and cosmic winding becomes drifting nirvana.
You can really drift like a pro in enthusia....no joke.

I play enthusia strictly for the drift action.

Well, I just hate to unlock tracks and cars. That's the big problem...
Do you have any cheat devices like GameShark, Action Replay, CodeBreaker etc? Use those to unlock all cars and tracks then have fun driving around :)

Now after 2 weeks with Enthusia I realize that I have a real love-hate relationship with that game / sim ( please check one )
Car physics: great and very challenging
Tracks: some excellent little tracks like Autumn Hill or Burgenschlucht.
I really hate Mystic Caveway.

Licenses: That's not my style. On the other hand I'm addicted to the free race mode and for me that mode is the real license test because in order to win one has to be perfect: fast ( to win the race ) and drive defensively to avoid the black flags.

Cars selection: way too many crappy ones, but my favourite models ( I learned to appreciate by playing the GT serie ) like the Silvia, celica GT4, civic and Acura R, supra, trueno apex and Nissan March are spot on.

I just hope 1 thing: that there will be an Enthusia2 released when the PS3 is out.

I hear ya on the love/hate thing, Biased Turkey. I love the game's physics, mostly great sound effects (there's a few foul balls, but overall I think it beats both GT4 and Forza when it comes to engine sounds). And despite the inclusion of a number of uninteresting vehicles, there are many other that are excellent. Some personal favorites: Lancia Rally 037 (love that thing !), NSX, Aston Martin Vantage (stellar V12 soundtrack :)), Mercedes CLK-DTM (even though the JGTC cars spank it) and the Toyota GT1.

The tracks are more of a mixed bag, IMO....Question about the tracks once you have the race cars. Seems like the selection is very, very limited in the pro rally cars, and not much better with the road racing cars. With the latter, seems I only get to race Nurburgring, Tsukuba, Speediapolis and Lowenseering. Even though you get some variants of them all (except Speediapolis), I'd really like more tracks for the race cars and wonder if more will open up later.

The biggest hate: The steenkin' lotto system ! How many times has it happened, I enter the race against the car I want to unlock, and get aced out of it by the program. :grumpy: It seems absolutely perverse, not to mention having an 80% chance of winning at least something for god's sake, and after tantalizing you with some near misses, the roulette wheel comes to rest on the bottom of the screen: BZZZZT: no car unlocked at all. Infuriating ! The funny part is it makes me pathetically glad when I do finally unlock what I was after. :guilty:

Why do you even want to unlock cars in DR? You can get more cars faster in FR and you can tune them as high as you want in 2 seconds.
