So my new GT3RS wheel finally arrived today. I was originally sent a Turbo S. However after the small mishap Im a bit concerned this may not be a V2 wheel. On the box it mentions V1.5(may not mean anything) and on the wheel itself there is little to distinguish its actually a v2 wheel. Ive gone to the website and tried to find some differences and it mentions a power button and the V1's USB cable is not detachable. Can anyone out there help me reassure myself I do have the correct wheel?

Thanks,
-Jason

You have nothing to worry about and you are not the first one confused about the 1.5 mark on the box of GT3 RS V2. You certainly got a V2, they've not been selling V1 for a long time now.

You can check this: Did you get aluminum paddle shifters? These only come with the V2.

Just opened the package of cables and I did get paddles(black ones) Makes me feel much better. Thank you for the reassurance.

Curious how long did you take for your wheel to arrive? I ordered mine on the 24th and it's still hasn't shipped yet. It's still pending...wtf.

About a week the first time and a bit over a week for the replacement. Original order was on Nov 12th and I received the first wheel on the 18th. Talked to Fanatec about receiving the wrong order and a new wheel was shipped out that following Monday. Due to the Holiday I received it on the Following Wed along with a return label for the Turbo S.

Now I just wish they wouldve included the 4 6mm bolts/hardware for permanent mounting.

They don't include the bolts because all hard mounting is different with the thickness of the surface. It's not hard to run into a hardware store to grab the bolts and washers. My dad brought my wheel in to the store when I needed the right bolts for my rig.

For anyone interested, I just hard mounted my GT3RS V2 to my Obutto and used 6mm metric standard screws with a 20mm depth. Home Depot had two packs for $1 each...

I used a 1/4" titanium drill bit to make the holes and everything worked perfectly.

Only difficult part was measuring and marking the holes on the bottom of the wheel plate so as to clear the support tubes.

Hi, by all accounts don't tighten mounting bolts too tight(can affect belt drive), also make sure studs/bolts don't penetrate too far into wheel housing ie chance of damaging bits inside wheel. Prob check depth with a Q tip or whatever, look in holes etc.

Cheers BOB

Same thing just happened to me. ordered GT3RS, got the 911 S wheel. They just sent out the replacement wheel today. Supposed to get it on the 7th of Dec. If anyone is having problems with customer service, patients. They will get back to you. took them about a week and a half for my issues.

I know. It was just a minor nitpick because my rig doesnt accommodate the clamp and the hardware store was closed when UPS dropped it off. I just wanted to to get started immediately. I just picked up some 6mmx30mm bolts at the store on my lunch the next day and all is well. Unfortunately it took me a couple hours to get the wheel to take the updated firmware. Finally had to drop my win7 notebook into diagnostic mode to get the updatetool to not error out. All is well now. Now I just need to finish tweaking my rig, stain and get it all back together and maybe compile a nice write up. 👍

Do you like the GT3 RS better than the turbo S?

I havent spent much time with the turbo S. I only unboxed the one they sent me so I could prepare my wheel mount. I have used the Turbo S as a buddy of mine used to have one but I really cant comment between the two.

They are the same wheel mechanically. The real difference is just xbox support I am shocked at how both of you are so disappointed about receiving functionally superior wheels. I guess you guys really like alcantara. (I sure do I put a gtrs wheel on my pwts.)

Are they the same? I was under the impression the electronics were different and that the PWTS was more akin to the V1 but not upgradeable with the PCB upgrade kit. There was also a question of future compatibility with the clubsport shifter(may be unfounded but I didnt want to risk it). If they are the same than yeah, I probably shouldve kept it but I really dont play my X360 and pretty much stick to the PS3 and PC anyway.

Yes they are the same. The PWT is not upgradeable, the pwts is upgradeable.

Damn, C'est la vie. Guess at the very least I dont have to worry about needing the upgraded PCB and since my Forza time has come and gone Ill worry about compatibility when Forza 4 releases.

Anyone know if its possible to cannibalize the xbox compatibility function from a Turbo S? Ill have to ask but I may have access to a non functioning wheel.
