Quick question on importing a processor

I'm planning to upgrade my PC in time for Christmas.

I want to add an FX57 CPU and two GeForce 7800GTXs. I have a question for GTP users, would a socket 939 processor imported from the US work on a UK motherboard?

If somone answers this I promise to go away and behave, I also promise to never again create a thread centered around a selfish question.

BTW I searched.

I'm not sure. I would assume that voltages would be your major concern but I would also assume that the voltages at the processor should be the same regardless of power supply. I honestly didn't know there was a PAL and a NTSC version when it comes to processors. I'll check with a couple of guys I know that would know.

They said what I am finding on the net is that your socket type is what needs to match. The motherboard regulates the voltage to the processor.

I hope you can get some clarification on this, but I would imagine that all the AMD processor's come out of the same warehouse with the same part numbers ect...

BTW - Looks like one hellovah MOBO.

Basically, you can run parts manufactured anywhere in the world that are targeted to any market in the world as long as they're compatible form factors and the operating system supports them.

All you have to worry about is flipping the switch on your power supply from 120v to the voltage of your country. Chances are though, the switch will be in the right position for you if you buy the PSU locally :)

I'm only planning on geting a US processor, I'm using my existing PSU, Mobo etc.

Then you're good to go. Just stick that sucker in and it should work. Worst case, you might need a bios update to recognize the cpu as an FX-57, but that's not a biggie
