Been playing this game since it came out, but finally got a DFGT for my bday recently. Love this wheel, especially how accurate/smooth you can be with the steering and pedals compared to the analog. I am of course still alot faster with my analog. I know it will take some time to get the hang of this thing. I do have a few minor issues, that maybe you guys can help me sort out.

1) As I noticed, many complain about this.. Is there anyway to keep the car from wobbling about at the ring even on the straights? I've done about 140mph on a road with similar bumps in real life, and the wheel does not pull left and right like that. Even if Im holding the DFGT tight and straight, it still causes the car to wiggle from left to right sometimes causing me to just simply lose control.

2) Which setting do you guys use? I've been behind the wheel of a real car for 10 years now, and the amateur setting really does not feel like the real thing. Especially when I lose control. It's like the wheel purposely goes out of its way to spin even harder causing the car to lose even more control then it needs to, compared to the analog. Very stressful. I also tried simulation, and I noticed I spin out more. Not sure which one to use. Which one should I stick with for the quickest lap times?

3) About how long did it take you guys to get better with your wheel then your analog? For me it seems like this will take A LOT of work to relearn the game with the wheel.

Thanks! 👍

1) Try setting wheel sensitivity at 4.

2) Simulation for reality.

3) Practice, practice, practice. The speed and fast laps will come.
👍

1) It's a fault with the DFGT, however from your description it sounds worse than normal. Are you sure you're not exaggerating?
If not, it may be worth looking into a replacement, logitech's customer support is notoriously brilliant.

2) Pro with FFB of ten feels the closest to a real car, however it's still off. Once again though I never found it anywhere near as bad as what you're describing.

3) It took me 1 lap to adjust to the wheel and from then I got faster and faster as I was more in my comfort zone. When I began drifting with the wheel it took me 4 months to surpass the level I was at on the controller.

Thanks.. But can I get faster lap times in amateur over simulation easier, or its all about preference?

No way, are you serious!? That sucks. So i'll never be able to truly drive the ring at my full potential because of this wheel? Does the G27 have this issue? I dont know, im gonna practice a few more days, see what happens. Thanks.

And at this point, just imagining what drifting would be like with this wheel scares me. Glad to hear its possible.

I've been using a DFGT for GT5 since inception.

1. Never experienced anything that made me completely lose control of a car. Yes, it will wobble on straights but I keep a firm grip. FFB will give some road feedback like it's supposed to but not to the extent you're describing.

2. The Pro, Amateur Etc. settings are not for a DFGT. Notice which wheels are highlighted in that screen. I use FFB at 6 although I've gone months with it at different settings before checking it.

3. N/a. Never used a controller. Some type of cheap Logitech wheel for over 10 years.

The worst aspect of that wheel set are the pedals. Do a search for some brake pedal mods to give you some resistance. Sponge ball/Sponge and/or bungee cords work very well. Good luck.

^ I highly recommend a kitchen sponge under the brake pedal 👍 I put a really thick one in there and it fit perfectly, gave it much better feedback.

Heh, I've done plenty of adjusting to get my pedal just how I like it. I got a tile grout clean up sponge and cut it so it fits in the slot. It's extremely firm. Then added another layer of a cheap car wash sponge for just that much more resistance. A couple light duty bungee cords to boot.

It's a poor man's load cell mod! But really, I get a pretty good brake feel now. Modulating with No ABS works great, I was surprised how much all that helped.

I started with the DFGT almost 2 years ago with GT5. I didn't notice that wobble you speak of except with the "I win" car aka the X2010. I found it to be almost incontrollable the harder I gripped the wheel and discovered that being very still prevented that straight line wobble. Reducing the FFB some also helped. I also modded the brake pedal on that set with a sponge and bungee cord.

I upgraded to the G27 this past January and to be brutally frank, the DFGT is a kid's toy in comparison.

That's just Urie's learning period, different people have different learning curves and different levels of real world experience. I learn extremely quickly, but it still took me a few months to get consistently faster with a wheel as there was more to think about and I had never driven a proper car in real life. Stick with it, you'll get there.

Thanks a bunch guys. I guess I will have to upgrade to a G27 later on. Im interested in trying this brake pedal mod eventually, but I was actually enjoying the slight firmness it comes with.

I used some 1/2" closed cell foam pipe insulation behind my brakes along with bungee cords. Worked very well for me, although I have since upgraded to G27.

I've recently moved to the DFGT, i haven't experianced the wobble and loss of control your saying you have, however when I let go of the wheel it turns side to side very fast if i let go without putting the wheel anything other than perfectly straight (not that it matters as you shohldnt let go anyway)

I have FFB set to 7, personally I find it much easier to drive with stronger FFB, I would have it at 10 but sometimes when I drive hard my arms begin to ache after a while and sudden loss of control can hurt if your not holding the wheel correctly lol.

It took me a couple of evenings to get used to the wheel after the ds3, so not long at all really.

I've just recently got a DFGT and when I first used it I had the shakes with the wheel, I turned of the power steering and now just get slight wobbles.

The wobble with the wheel is something I can't relate to, even with having used 2 DFGT's over my time on GT5. It sounds like a fault with your wheel, because even when doing 200mph+ down the straight on the Nordschleife or even the Mulsanne straight on Circuit De La Sarthe. You could try reducing the FFB or turning power steering on.
It could also be car or suspension related. Try a different car, preferably something with a smooth ride like the SLS or GT-R.
